Lance Moss is in Right Place at Right Time to Get URC Win at Lancaster Speedway

LANCASTER, SC . . . . . . Lance Moss knows only too well about being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but Saturday night at the Lancaster Speedway in Lancaster, SC, he found himself in the right place at the right time. After dominating most of the 25 lap USCS/URC feature event, Eric Riggins came to a stop in turn one on lap nineteen, handing the lead over to Lance Moss. The race was far from over as Moss had to hold off the challenges from Friday nights feature winner Johnny Bridges for the final six laps with Lance Moss taking the victory.

Heat race winners were Morgan Turpen and URC’s Troy Betts.

In the twenty-five lap USCS/URC feature event, Lance Moss jumped to an early lead with Eric Riggins following in second with Johnny Bridges in third. Moss held off a determined Riggins until lap seven when Riggins took the lead. Just off the pace was Bridges, Robbie Stillwaggon and Troy Betts. In the meantime, Riggins ran to hide from the rest of the field, opening up a huge lead.

At the halfway point of the race, Riggins, Moss, Bridges, Stillwaggon and Troy Betts made up the top five.

The turning point of the race came on lap nineteen when race leader Eric Riggins slowed at the start-finish line, the rolling to a stop in turn one. The yellow was displayed and Riggins was pushed to the infield with Moss the new leader. The mechanical problems that sent Riggins to the infield were unknown at the time and just before the race was ready to restart, the Riggins #47 360 sprint car returned to the speedway to continue the race.

With the drop of the green flag, the race resumed with Moss now in a battle with Bridges for the lead. URC’s Stillwaggon was also within striking distance. With just two laps remaining, Moss expanded his lead slightly, leaving Bridges to battle with Stillwaggon, and a battle it was. As Lance Moss easily took the victory, Bridges was doing everything he could to keep Stillwaggon in third. As the pair crossed the wire, Bridges took second with Stillwaggon third, Newark, DE’s Troy Betts finished fourth as female race Morgan Turpen finished fifth.
