Hellertown, PA…Heffner Racing Enterprises is pleased to announce that former World of Outlaws driver Greg Hodnett will join the team for the 2014 season. Hodnett, from Thomasville, PA, is well-known and well-liked on the Central Pennsylvania sprint car circuit and the latest of legendary drivers to pilot the Heffner sprinter.
“By comparison, I haven’t been a team owner for very long. But I have been fortunate to work with some of the best drivers in sprint car racing—many of whom I grew up watching,” says team owner Mike Heffner. “We are thrilled that Greg Hodnett will be part of the team next year.”
As a full time career driver, Hodnett’s livelihood is dependent on how well he and his team perform on the track.
“Heffner Racing’s philosophy is to do the best they can—they definitely want to win races and put forth every effort to be competitive. That’s important to me because it’s what I do for a living,” said Hodnett. “But also as a leader, Mike wants the team to enjoy themselves and have fun. It’s a good balance and I’m confident we can be successful.”
Hodnett replaces Lance Dewease, another Central PA icon, whom Heffner has nothing but good things to say about. Both drivers will run tomorrow night’s Fall Fest at Williams Grove Speedway—Dewease in the #27, Hodnett in the #27H.
“It was a true honor working with Lance Dewease during 2013. He, too, is a legend in the world of sprint car racing. I appreciate his efforts,” said Heffner. “It will be exciting to watch them race as teammates at Williams Grove tomorrow.”
Heffner expressed his thanks to Lance and the crew–Matt, Jeff, Chet, Jake and Barry—and special thanks to Donnie Owens and Conduit Connections for all of their support. Also to sponsors Lelands.com, Conduit Connections, Pasquariello Auto Shop, Legendary Pictures.
Hodnett, 44, started racing when he was 16 years old. His impressive resume started with Rookie of the Year. His career has spawned four Speedweek championships (including 2013); a Williams Grove National Open win; numerous Central Pennsylvania Point Series championships, several Williams Grove Speedway and other track championships and a second place, some top-fives and a preliminary race win at the Knoxville Nationals.
