NDRA 2012Clint Elkins: LANCASTER, SC - The promotions team of the Lancaster Super Speedway decided Wednesday to follow tradition and continue their relationship with the National Dirt Racing Association (NDRA) for GM Performance Crate Late Models in 2013.

“After talking with Mr. Larry Lee and Mr. Clint Elkins, we feel that making this decision will be in the best interest of our track, our racers, and our relationships with sponsors of those who have supported NDRA and Lancaster Speedway in the past,” stated Doug McManus, owner of Lancaster Super Speedway. “Businesses such as Heintz Performance and City Chevrolet have long been supporters of our crate racing efforts, including those with NDRA Late Models and our Crate Sportsman division.”

Lancaster Super Speedway, which first opened in 1954, has offered weekly crate racing for eight consecutive years since crate late model racing was first introduced to the area in 2005. Lancaster Speedway was among the original group of tracks that were sanctioned by NDRA in 2009. That tradition continues.

“With the recently released tire rule allowing the American Racer BT Spec 48 and 56, along with Hoosier HTS Spec 1350 and 1600, this will allow teams a choice to run at our tracks when the crate division is on the schedule,” Larry Lee stated in the NDRA Tire Rule Press Release earlier in the month.

Lancaster is committed to running the NDRA crate model division and is on the schedule for 12 races during the 2013 season, making the decision to be NDRA affiliated the wisest decision. The track will follow a similar schedule format to that of Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC, which alternates late models and NDRA late model crate cars.

Lancaster Super Speedway is among the oldest surviving dirt racing facilities in North and South Carolina and is among the last few true super speedways of dirt. The 58th season of racing will kick-off on March 16, 2013 with an open house and car show, which will be held at the track. Open practice will follow the car show for all divisions.

March 23, 2013 will be the opening night of the season and will be the first point race. It will feature the NDRA Crate Late Models. The division will also run in the second annual Carolina

Crown weekend, which will headline the Friday night portion of the event, on March 29 for a $2,000 event.

The opening event for the NDRA Late Model Series will be the 13th Annual Skyler Trull Memorial March 8-9, 2013 at Carolina Speedway. This will be the first Heintz Performance Road Show event of 2013.
