FREMONT, Ohio – Aaron Reutzel put an exclamation point on his third consecutive Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions Presented by Mobil 1 championship by leading all 40 laps at Fremont Speedway Saturday, Oct. 10 to score the $10,000 payday on the series’ season finale. Reutzel’s 11th All Star win of the season came during the 13th Annual Jim and Joanne Ford Classic on Kear’s Speed Shop Night to also wrap up the track’s racing for 2020.
It was Reutzel’s third career win at Fremont and came after an eighth place finish the previous night at the track. Reutzel made some very daring moves in lapped traffic and when the checkers flew he had a nearly seven second lead.
It was also a special night for Reutzel as his wife was able to attend and his son won his first go-kart race in Iowa Saturday night.
“Tonight just went our way. When you qualify good and get in the dash you’re able to try things. Last night the ruts never went away…it got real slick all around them but they never went away and I thought tonight was going to be a times two that. I told Dillon…let’s go for it, let’s live or die by the ruts so we made sure our car could drive through the ruts. I know there’s a few other cars here that get real tight if they look at any moisture they are no good. I figured if we could get good through the ruts we might be one of the only ones doing it. It played out good. It was a gamble but I wanted to make $10,000 on top of that $65,000 today. So we went for it and it played out good. This is three years in a row we ended the All Stars by winning so I wanted to keep that streak going as well,” said Reutzel beside his Fischer Body Shop/Folkens Brothers Trucking/XXX Chassis/Nattress Construction #67.
For the second straight night in a row Cole Duncan charged through the pack to a second place finish. He was the hard charger, coming from 18th starting position.
“Second sucks. Congrats to Reutzel and the Baughman guys. He was the class of the field, not only in this area but in the country for the last three years. That was a fun race. We just kept picking them off and driving as hard as I could…that’s my job. These guys behind me just don’t quit. We kind of looked down and out…we didn’t look very good in the heat race…we were just too tight. I let us down and let a spot go and it really docked us some starting spots there. We kept working on the car and we got there…almost. Second still sucks,” said Duncan.
Friday’s feature winner Cap Henry rounded out the podium as his car faded a little last after he ran second most of the feature event.
“About eight or nine to go the motor kind of laid down and I was just trying to ride it out and make sure it didn’t lose all the oil pressure. I was really good until that first caution…after that Aaron just kicked our asses the rest of the feature. I’m proud of my team…we had a really good year and this is my best Jim Ford finish,” said Henry.
Paul Weaver took the lead on the third lap of the 25-lap Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 A-main and drove away to his eighth victory of the year at Fremont to go with seven at Attica Raceway Park. It was Weaver’s 59th career victory at Fremont, placing him fifth on the track’s all-time win list.
“I want to thank DJ Foos and Mikey Sommers. I bought a bunch of tires (used) from them tonight and DJ said run this one. He won with it last week and now I know why he won with it,” said Weaver of his B&B Drain Service/Hampshire Racing Engines/M&L Excavating backed #1W.
Not to be outdone, but Shawn Valenti made it a sweep of the weekend in the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks, taking the lead on lap nine after a spirited battle with Jamie Miller and never looking back on route to his sixth victory of the year. It was Valenti’s 61st career win at Fremont Speedway, placing him third on the track’s all-time win list.

Reutzel and Ian Madsen brought the field to green for the 40-lap All Star/FAST A-main with Reutzel jumping into a commanding lead over Madsen, Bill Balog, Shane Stewart, Henry and Paul McMahan. A multi-car crash on lap two took out several contenders including Madsen and Cory Eliason.
The brief stoppage didn’t slow Reutzel down as he drove away on the restart and hit lapped traffic by lap seven as Henry had worked his way into second. A caution on lap 12 wiped out the advantage for Reutzel with Henry, Hunter Schuerenberg, Stewart and Greg Wilso in tow. Meanwhile, Duncan had charged from 18th to eighth.
Reutzel’s lead was over three seconds at the half-way point but very heavy lapped traffic allowed Henry to close quickly with Schuerenberg, Greg Wilson and Duncan in pursuit. By lap 23, Henry had whittled Reutzel’s lead down to 1.8 seconds but once Reutzel disposed oa few lapped machines, he built his lead back up to five seconds with 10 laps to go.
Henry continued to ride along in second while Shuerenberg, Duncan and Wilson battled hard for third. Duncan was able to get around Henry on the white flag lap but Reutzel’s lead was insurmountable as he cruised to the win. Duncan, Henry, Schuerenberg and Wilson rounded out the top five.
Fremont Speedway was badass tonight. I thought it was fun…it was technical. It got wild for me in lapped traffic…there were guys racing all over the place. The lapped cars were real sportsmen. I know I was throwing some big sliders and I would lose a lot of momentum and they would get back to my inside but none of them raced me back or slid me back. It’s incredible what the Baughmans have put together for me and all the partners that have been involved from the beginning. It’s absolutely incredible what we have accomplished….I never would have dreamed it,” Reutzel said.
Chris Verda and Rich Farmer paced the field for the start of the 305 sprint A-main with Verda taking the lead over Weaver, Farmer, Steve Rando, Matt Foos and Tyler Shullick. Weaver built his advantage to nearly three seconds by lap seven as Rando, the previous week’s winner, grabbed the runner-up spot as Verda, Foos and Alvin Roepke battled for third.
A red on lap 12 kept the field close but when the green flew so did Weaver, pulling to a two second lead with six laps to go. Weaver cruised to the win over Rando, Foos, Roepke and Shullick.
Several cautions during the first half of the 20 lap dirt truck A-main kept leader Jaime Miller and Valenti close but Miller would exit the track to the pits on lap nine. Now in charge, Valenti pulled away while a tremendous battle ensued for second involving Kent Brewer, Keith Sorg and Cory McCaughey.
Valenti drove away to the win over Sorg who edged Brewer, McCaughey and Austin Black.
