10.10.20 Pittsburghs PA Motor Speedway Results
Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile would play host to eight different divisions on Saturday night with the Falconi’s 410 Outlaw Winged Sprint Cars highlighting the evening. PPMS would see qualifying, ten heat races, eight feature events, a first time winner, and a rain delay when a light drizzle was just enough to make the racing surface too slick for competition. The rain would come to an end and the racing action would kick into overdrive for the remainder of the night.
Brandon Matus (13M), from Wampum, would pick up the win for the Falconi’s 410 Outlaw Winged Sprint Car Series, while Zack Morrow (27M), from Gibsonia, would bring home the win for the RUSH Sprint Car Series and Chas Wolbert (C3), from Howland, Ohio grabbed one last PPMS win on the season for the RUSH Sportsman Modified Dirt Series. Mike Harris (18), from Bridgeville, picked up the win in the ADMAR Pro Stock division, while Cody Koteles (1K), from Stockdale, brought home another win to end an impressive rookie season in the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stock division. Bill Tennant (2), from Colliers, West Virginia, ended his season on a high-note with another win for the Crawford Auto Repair Four Cylinders, and Cameron Lambert (223), from Mars, got his first career victory in the All Ways Safe Young Guns division.
16 Outlaw Winged 410 Sprint cars would qualify on Saturday night and Dan Kuriger (08), from New Brighton, would set the fast-time of 15.574. Carl Bowser (11), from Freeport would qualify second with a time of 15.791. Less than a second would separate the top nine drivers. The 410 Sprints would be broken into two heat races and with a light rain falling during the first heat race, the second heat race would return to their pit areas to wait it out. Once the track was ruled to be safe for competition, the second heat race would be completed. In the 20-lap feature, Ken Rossey (66), from Reynoldsville, would start on the pole with Matus (13M) to his outside. When the green flag dropped, Matus (13M) would take off to an early lead, as the 12 of Darin Gallagher, from Butler, would follow him into second place after starting fifth. Matus (13M) would enter lapped-traffic by lap seven and he would continue to lead through lap 11 with Gallagher (12) still in second, George Hobaugh (40) in third, Bowser (11) in fourth, and Sye Lynch (42) in fifth. Despite a late-race caution, Matus (13M) would lead all laps of the event and pick up his first PPMS win of the season. Following him to the line was Gallagher (12) in second, Hobaugh (40) in third, Lynch (42) in fourth, Bowser (11) in fifth, Jack Sodeman Jr (23JR) in sixth, Rossey (66) in seventh, Russ Sanscsti (23S) in eighth, Rich Holley (85) in ninth, and Brent Matus (33) completes the top 10. The heat race winners were Bowser (11) and Sanscsti (23S).
The RUSH Sprint Car Series had 12 cars in attendance on Saturday night, which were broken into two heat races with the top three from each heat race making it into the redraw to determine the top six starting spots for their 15-lap feature event. Zach Morrow (27M) would not only win his heat race but he would also redraw the pole position for the main event. Rick Regalski (14) would start to Morrow’s outside and in second place. The second starting row consisted of Brad Blackshear (10), from Masury, Ohio in third, and Nolan Groves (25) starting in fourth. When the green flag waved, Morrow (27M) would retain the lead. By lap five, the field had spread out comfortably with Morrow (27M) still leading, Blackshear (10) in second, Groves (25) in third, and Gale Ruth Jr. (24) in fourth. Morrow (27M) would have a half of a straight away lead over the field by lap seven and by lap nine, he had a full straight away lead. The race would go green to checkerked in record fashion with Morrow (27M) picking up another PPMS win. He was followed to the line by Blackshear (10) in second, Groves (25) in third, Ruth Jr. (24) in fourth, Steve Pedley (21) in fifth, Andy Feil (9), in sixth, Rick Regalski (14) in seventh, Brian Hartzell (69) in eighth, Brandon Shugart (29) in ninth, Bryan Cressley (62) in tenth, and AJ MacQuarrie (69X) in eleventh. The heat race winners were Morrow (27M) and Regalski (14).
In the RUSH Sportsman Modified feature, Preston Cope (24P), from Champion, Ohio would be the pole-sitter with Wolbert (C3) starting to his outside in second place. Jeremy Weaver (14S), from Stoneboro, would start in third, and Kole Holden (2) from Tiona, would start in fourth. When the green flag dropped, Cope (24P) would keep the early lead until lap two when Wolbert (C3) would take over. With Wolbert (C3) still leading on lap four, Garrett Krummert (10S) was in second, Cope (24P) in third, Holden (2) in fourth, and Weaver (14S) in fifth. These top five would remain the same through the halfway point of the event, as Wolbert (C3) continued to increase his lead over the field. Wolbert (C3) would lead the remaining laps of the event, picking up another PPMS win. He was followed to the line by Krummert (10S) in second, Holden (2) in third, Cope (24P) in fourth, Tony Tatgenhorst (63T) in fifth, Jeremy Weaver (14S) in sixth, Chelsie Kriegisch (10) in seventh, Jacob Jordan (28J) in eighth, and Dave Price (111) rounds out the nine-car field. The heat race winner was Wolbert (C3).
The RUSH Late Model Dirt Series would see a nine-car field with Logan Zarin (1Z) as the pole-sitter for the 20-lap feature event. Dan Lepro (2L), from Midway, would start on the outside pole in second place. Colby Beighey (36B), from Taylor, Michigan, would start in third, while Cole Petrelle (184P), from Weirton, West Virginia, would start in third, Philip Bubeck (15), from Colliers, West Virginia, would start in fifth as he was making his RUSH Late Model debut, and Eric Hamilton Jr. (33X), from McDonald, would complete the top three starting rows. When the green light turned on, Zarin (1Z) would keep the early lead with Lepro (2L) in second and Petrelle (184P) in third. Petrelle (184P) would take over second place on lap three as he tried to track down Zarin (1Z) who had a half of a straight away lead by lap six. Three laps later, Zarin (1Z) had a full straight away lead over the field, and he would begin to contend with lapped traffic on lap 12. Zarin (1Z) was on a rail and would lead all laps of the event, picking up another PPMS win as the race went green to checkered in record fashion. Following Zarin (1Z) to the line was Petrelle (184P) in second, Lepro (2L) in third, Beighey (36B) in fourth, Bill Kessler (09) in fifth, Eric Hamilton Jr. (33X) in sixth, Kassidy Kamicker 72B) in seventh, Christian Schneider (M5) in eighth, and P. Bubeck (15) in ninth. The heat race winner was Petrelle (184P).
The ADMAR Pro Stock feature would see a six-car field with Jim Fosnaught (20J) on the inside pole and Mike Harris (18) on the outside pole. Ryan Moyer (13X) would start in third, while Todd Weldon (45) would start in fourth, AJ Poljak (36) would start in fifth, and Tanya Charlier (21) would start in sixth. When the green-flag dropped, Fosnaught (20J) would retain the early lead. Fosnaught (20J) was still leading on lap six with Moyer (13X) in second, Weldon (45) in third, Harris (18) in fourth, and Beighey (36) in fifth. The event’s lone caution would slow the pace on lap seven when two cars got together on the backstretch. Weldon (45) would take over the lead and lead the field on the restart with five laps remaining in the event. Weldon (45) was still leading with two to go when Harris (18) made his move and stole the lead from Weldon (45). Harris (18) would lead the last two laps of the event, picking up his first PPMS win of the season. Weldon (45) would follow him for second, Moyer (13X) in third, Poljak (36) in fourth, Charlier (21) in fifth, and Fosnaught (20J) in sixth. The heat race winner was Fosnaught (20J).
Danny Rich (83X), from Imperial, would start on the pole in the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stock (12) lap feature, and Cody Koteles (1K) would start to his outside in second place. Frank Magill (05), from Jefferson Hills, had the third starting spot and Robert Betz (22), from South Heights, would complete the top two starting rows. When the green flag dropped, Rich (83X) and Koteles (1K) would battle side by side for the lead with Koteles (1K) claiming the top spot at the stripe. Lap four had Koteles (1K) still leading, sixth-starting Adam Ferree (29) now in second, Rich (83X) in third, F. Magill (05) in fourth, and John Cain (06) in fifth. Koteles (1K) would enter lapped-traffic on lap seven as he continued to lead the field. Koteles (1K) would lead all laps of the event, en route to another PPMS win to close out an impressive rookie season. He was followed to the line by Ferree (29) in second, Rich (83X) in third, F. Magill (05) in fourth, Cain (06) in fifth, Tony Magill (5M) in sixth, Karlee Kovacs (221K) in seventh, Brian Hutchko (OU2) in eighth, Terry Kerr (47T) in ninth, and Paul Barva (99) completes the top 10. The heat race winners were F. Magill (05) and Koteles (1K).
The Crawford Auto Repair Four Cylinder feature would start five cars with Bill Tennant (2) starting on the inside pole and Kyle Janas (88), from Coraopolis, starting on the outside pole. Dan Hunkele (69), from Tarentum, would start in third, while Noah Bubeck (2L), from Colliers, West Virginia, would start in fourth, and Rob Siegel (27T) would complete the field. When the green flag waved, Tennant (2) would keep his lead. As the field spread out, Tennant (2) would increase his lead over the field with Janas (88) in second, N. Bubeck (2L) in third, Hunkele (69) in fourth and Siegel (27T) in fifth. The race would run green to checkered as Tennant (2) led all six laps of the event. He was followed by Janas (88) in second, N Bubeck (2L) in third, Hunkele (69) in fourth, and Siegel (27T) in fifth. The heat race winner was Tennant (2). Notables: It was Dan Hunkele’s (69) rookie debut and his first time in a race car. N. Bubeck (2L) made his Four Cylinder Debut after dominating in the Young Guns division.
Speaking of the All Ways Safe Young Guns, Cameron Lambert (223) would start on the pole for their six-lap feature, while Olivia Hicks (05), would start in second, Matthew Chips (2), from Follansbee, West Virginia, would start in third, and Cameron Hollister (44), from McDonald, would round out the four-car field. When the green flag dropped, Hicks (05) would take over the lead as Lambert (223) followed her into second with white smoke coming from his car. Hicks (05) would lead until lap three when Lambert (223) would steal the lead as the smoke was getting worse coming from his car. With his car pouring white smoke, Lambert (223) was able to hold onto the lead for the final three laps of the event and pick up his first career victory. He was followed to the line by Chips(2) in second, Hicks (05) in third, and Hollister (44) in fourth. The Young Guns did not run a heat race.
Racing will resume next spring after a trying season due to COVID19. Miley Motor Sports would like to thank everyone who has supported Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.
