10.26.19 Ventura Raceway Results

Ventura Raceway concluded its regular 2019 racing season Saturday night October 26. A full night of racing action kept the fans in attendance excited as the racers battled to see who would take track championships in two VRA divisions, the WMR Midgets and California Lightning Sprints. Headlining the night’s event was the fast and furious USAC Midgets.

In USAC Midget action, nineteen cars were signed into the pits for their 30 lap feature event. Cory Ellliott took the fast time honors with a time of 13.112 seconds. Three heat races were held with wins going to Chase Johnson in heat one, Robert Dalby in heat two and Josh Lakatos took heat three. Their 30 lap main event was nearly a green white checker event with Ben Worth leading laps one to twelve when he was passed by Chase Johnson who then led to the finish. Following Johnson across the line were Ben Worth, Cory Elliott, Shannon McQueen and Josh Lakatos. Kyle Beilman took the hard charger award coming from his eighteenth starting place to finish tenth. Randi Pankratz took the Lucky 13 Award for her thirteenth finishing position. These cars will return to Ventura Raceway on Wednesday November 27 and 28 for the Turkey Night Grand Prix.

VRA Sprints cars had eight cars in attendance Saturday night. They ran one heat race with the win going to 2019 season champion Rick Hendrix, Their twenty-five lap main event saw Jeff Fillingame take the win over Trent Williams, Rick Hendrix, Ricky Lewis and Brent Owens. Fillingame led all twenty-five laps to take his second win of the 2019 season. Rick Hendrix was awarded his 2019 Season Championship after the race.

The VRA Pro Dwarf Cars were on hand with 12 cars signed in to the pits. They ran two heat races with wins going to Trent Morley in heat one and Jason Horton in heat two. Their twenty lap main event saw Johnny Conley lead laps 1 to 3 when he pulled to the infield. Tom Morley then led laps 4 and 5 only to be passed by Jason Horton who then led until lap 14 when Trent Morley passed him and led to the finish. Morley was followed by new series champion Jason Horton, Gage Cheek, Tom Morley and Jeff Brink. The final point standings sees Jason Horton taking the VRA Dwarf Car series championship by 120 points over Trent Morley after sixteen races in 2019.

The new WMR Midget Class was on hand with 10 cars in attendance. Two heat races were run with wins going to Jessica Swanson and Randi Pankratz. Brody Fuson took the win in the twenty lap feature. He took the lead from his pole position start on lap one and was never headed. Following him across the line were Kevin Woody, Randi Pankratz, Jessica Swanson and Greg Edenholm. Randi Pankratz took the Ventura Raceway WMR season championship by 105 points over David Prickett.

The California Lightning Sprints ran a makeup main event from the power outage night of October 5, as a part of Saturday racing. The win in the makeup race went to Aiden Lange over Jarrett Kramer, A J Bender, James Turnbill and Cody Nigh. Their regular event Saturday night saw heat race wins go to Jon Robinson in heat one, Jason Arnolde in heat two and Aiden Lange in heat three. Their 25 lap feature event went to A J Bender over Cody Nigh, Grant Sexton, Jarrett Kramer and Aiden Lange. Jarrett Kramer’s fourth place finish clinched his second CLS Championship in a row.

We will now have two more special events to end our season. On Saturday November 2, and Sunday November 3, we will hold a two day dwarf car event headlined by a Monster Truck program. Then on Wednesday November 27, and Thursday November 28, we will hold the Turkey Night Grand Prix for USAC Midgets and USAC/VRA Sprint Cars. Reserved seating is now on sale for this prestigious event that saw Christopher Bell take the win over Kyle Larson last year.
