10.5.19 Red Clay Late Model Series Results

On Saturday night the Red Clay Series returned for night No. 2of the KRC Power Steering Clash on the High Banks at Patriot’s Park Raceway. 17 cars signed in for the second night as some were scared off by the dusty conditions from the night before. However they would miss out on a great surface as the track crew, with the guidance of Mark Knight, would plow up the track and rework it as soon as Friday night was over.
Booger Brooks showed why he is the point’s leader as he sat Boyd Bilt Fabrication fast time again, even with completely different track conditions. Ben Faircloth, Matthew Knight, Phillip Pittman and Tyler Sanders completed the top six and locked in the #FATBOYRACING Dash for Cash.

The Dash for Cash would see Brooks win again but not after racing door to door with Faircloth for the first lap. Faircloth however would wash up the track in turn 4 and slip to third as Pittman would get by him as well. Ryan Knight would pass to cars and finish third in the dash. Matthew Knight and Sanders would round out the top five. Pittman slowed on the last lap and finished sixth.

Anthony Hill Grading heat number one saw Caleb Gay lead flag to flag and unchallenged. The big move of the heat was Gavin Cowan going three wide into turn one and picking up 2 spots. Cowan continued to march forward and apply pressure to Derek Franks for third. Cowan came up about a car length short at the line to finish fourth.

Berry Construction heat race number 2 saw the race of the night as Jacob Parris and Daniel Brewer raged an all out war on each other as they ran door to door for all ten laps. Parris would have the advantage at checkered to pick up the heat win. Everyone else spread out and ran how they started.

The start of the feature saw the field stay two wide for the first lap as the track continued to provide a better surface than the night before. Faircloth edged ahead of Brooks to lead lap two. Brandon Boyd brought out the first caution on lap three as he spun in turn four. On the restart Faircloth got a good start and jumped to a two car length lead. That would not last for long as Pete Cochran brought out the second caution for spinning in turn two. The Next restart was closer as Faircloth, Brooks and M. Knight stayed on each other’s bumpers getting into turn one. M. Knight got a good run off two and attempted to pull up beside brooks. Brooks would make contact with M. Knight and stop his momentum. Caleb Gay slows at the top of turn 2 to bring out the next caution. Faircloth again gets a good restart and jumps to a two car length lead. Pittman try’s to hustle the high side and make up some ground on the leaders as M. Knight has now pulled away from fourth and gaining on the top two spots. Zach Hutto brought out the next caution as he spun off of turn four. This time Faircloth does not get as good of a start. Brooks and M. Knight would apply pressure for the next couple of laps. Brooks passed Faircloth coming off turn four. Faircloth immediately blast the top trying to regain the lead but would not be able to get enough momentum to catch Brooks. Gavin Cowan has now raced his way into the top from the 14th starting spot. As brooks got into lapped traffic Faircloth began to reel in Brooks. Brooks successfully navigated lap traffic to pick up his sixth win of the season. Faircloth held on for second. Brewer capitalized on M. Knight getting pinned behind a slow car on the front straight away to take third. M. Knight would settle for fourth and Cowan rounded out the top five. During post race inspection Faircloth was light at the scales, moving everyone from second on back up a spot.
