2.1.19 Top Gun Sprints Results

A.J. Maddox grabbed the lead on lap 11 to march to his second straight feature win in Top Gun Sprint Series competition during the 43rd Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park.

Maddox started inside row five and managed to avoid the on-track trouble that included a long red flag on the second lap. Billy Bridges held the early lead and pulled away on each restart until Maddox picked his way to the front. By the fifth lap, Maddox had moved to second in pursuit of Bridges. As the lead duo encountered lapped traffic, Maddox was able to make the winning move and rolled on to the win.
Heat race winners Branon Grubaugh, Robbie Smith and Luke Hill stood in position to claim the Jeff Barfield Memorial Clean Sweep, but Maddox again denied those chances. Grubaugh did manage to rebound from an early spin to finish second.

Hill, in only his third start in the Top Gun Sprint Series, scored his first victory in the division with his heat race win.
23 cars were in the pit area for the Friday night action.

Top Gun Sprint Series will wrap up its Winternationals run on Saturday, Feb. 2 as part of a three-division program.
