3.2.19 United Crate Alliance Results

Fort Payne, AL (3/2/19) — A 2019 Rookie of the Year United Championship Racing Alliance – UCRA candidate stole the “Bama Brawl” show Saturday afternoon, leading flag to flag the 40 lap event in honor of the late Eddie Davis; Marketing Director for the four year touring group, whom passed away suddenly last year. Seth Wimpey of Blue Ridge, GA put his name in the ring for the $16,000 UCRA 2019 National Championship chase, that includes a $1,000 Rookie Title challenge, after two solid runs at his home track last year in Brasstown, NC. The # 24 “VanDrake Racing, Weeks Tires, W.E.Hardscapes & Masonry, Stone Depot, 99Inc., Tree Daddy and High Country Pest Control” sponsored Black Diamond racer lucked into a penalty against front row starters Jesse Lowe and Kasey Hall, that catapulted himself and heat #2 runner-up Michael Courtney to the front row. Wimpey fired as directed by UCRA officials and it was “Katy Barr the Door” as the leader sustained challenge after challenger. (Stanley Smith photo)

First Lowe applied the pressure as Courtney fell back. Lowe would get a flat under caution that would negate him to the rear as the race continued. The hardest caution of the night was between Kyle Maye and Kenny Hall when the two connected in turn two violently. All eyes were on “Slammin” Sammy Seawright, whom started last after being unable to compete in Friday nights preliminary races. Seawright picked off positions, one by one and got up to third late in the going. Lowe, did the same and challenged to fifth as the laps waned. Local racer Hall salvaged a runner-up finish as Wimpey eased into his career first UCRA victory (worth $2,500) with Seawright and Courtney finishing third and fourth respectfully. Local J.T. Seawright (Sams big brother) won the $3,500 Main Event Super Late Model feature. In UCRA 602/Sportsman competition Danny Whitten of Gadsden won his career second UCRA sanctioned event in the $1,000 to-WIN / 30 lapper. The UCRA 602/Sportsman host six races in 2019 all at Fort Payne Motor Speedway. Round #2 is the first weekend in April, Saturday night the 6th at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, TN for the annual “Spring-Loaded 40”
