4.14.18 Volusia Speedway Park Results

(4-16-18) Barberville, FL – After mother nature claimed racing action the week before, the skies were clear and the racing action was back under way at the “Worlds Fastest Half Mile” this past Saturday night as four classes took center stage as the season worked its way into the month of April.

First up on the night went to the Billy Ballew Motorsports Thunderstocks as race teams had the final tune up night before the Allen Plumbing Iron Man Series Race #1 being held next weekend (4-21-18). The front row saw two winners already in 2018 in Joe Belkey and Robbie Hager. When the green dropped it was Belkey taking the early advantage and setting the pace over the 14 car starting field. Hager would slip back in the top five early on as David Showers Jr., who was making his first start of 2018 worked his way to the front along with Ron Adams and Hayden McCormick. As the laps clicked away Belkey would stretch his lead over Showers Jr. by nearly three seconds at one point in his CWI #99 as Showers Jr. would try everything he could to reel in the leader. In the end it was all Belkey taking home back to back wins on the season. Showers Jr. came home second, Adams third, hard charger McCormick fourth, and Hager rounded out the top five.

Full Recap to come.
