After a long break it was back to action at Tennessee’s Action Track. The stands were packed and so were the pits with 120 cars on hand to do battle in the first Big 6 points races of the season.

The Classic Cars were up first for their 20 lap feature. Will Carey and Ritchie Overholser would lead us to green. Lee Merritt started in the second row but began slipping back in the early laps. The field was setting a fast pace and quickly caught up to the tail end of the field. The #35 of Mark Sise would have a mechanical issues going down the front-stretch and clipped the #78 of Merritt. Merritt would spin down into the infield and flip over. He was okay but was obviously done for the night with heavy damage. Shaun Sise didn’t have a very good starting position but was charging through the pack in search of another win. He ran down the #16 of Will Carey and made the pass for the lead but would end up spinning in turn four ending his bid for the win. Carey would hold on to score the victory.

20 laps was on the schedule for the 602 late models as they had an extremely competitive field of drivers on hand. Hayden Cardwell would jump out to the lead on the start with Brad Lowe giving chase. Trouble for the #9 of Dustin Bunch who would bring out the early caution. Back under green and Michael Courtney was turning up the pressure on the #25 of Lowe for the runner up spot. Trouble would find the #71 of Pierce McCarter who pulled off track with machinal issues. The fight for second continued as Courtney powered by Lowe to take over the second spot. Bailey Cardwell had a strong fourth place run going but would loop his #07 machine in turn four bringing out another caution. Courtney would give chase but it was all Hayden Cardwell who pulled away in the end to win his first race at the 4-1-1.

Greg Martin would earn the pole for the 25 lap 604 Late Model feature. The green waved and Martin took the point ahead of Matt Henderson, Jake Teague, Colton Proffitt and Mack McCarter. McCarter would bring out the first caution as he looped his #51 around in turn two. Back under green and Cory Hedgecock was set on go as he tried to rally up through the field from his 13th starting spot. Trouble would find the #16 of Cameron Weaver as he pulled off track early with issues. Martin looked to have the dominant car but would slow with issues and pulled off track giving the lead to Matt Henderson. The incredible drive for Hedgecock continued as he had now worked his way into the top five. It was an incredible race between Teague and Henderson as they swapped the lead multiple times. Eventually Henderson would take over the spot but Hedgecock had now reeled them both in. The caution would wave for the #8C of Jacob Owens who tagged the turn two wall ending his night. Jed Emery would also pull off track with issues under the caution. It was a short run to the finish and Henderson held off the charge to pick up the win.

Robbie Comer would take the lead on the start of the B-Hobby/Super Street feature. Comer, Brian Hamby, Ryan Watson, Duke Lowe and Brady Lee would make up the top five on the start. Lee would have trouble as his #31 slowed with a flat tire bringing out the caution. After some attention from his crew he would rejoin the field at the tail. Watson had a strong run going in the first half of the race as he was in a battle for the second spot. Trouble for the #9 of Rocky Ogle who pulled off with issues. No trouble for the #25 of Lowe who may have been in a different ride but was looking strong as per usual as he moved into the second spot past Brian Hamby. It was all well behind Robbie Comer who cruised to the win.

The Open Wheel feature would be up next in the lineup. Chris Wilson and Wayne James would start on the front row of the stacked feature. Wilson set sail on the green ahead of James, Robby Reagan, David Clark and Lee Merritt. The caution would wave early as the #29C of Joey Cotterman would tag the wall in between turns one and two ending his night. Back under green and Wilson began to put a little distance on James who held the second spot. David Clark had now moved into the third spot. Another caution this one for the #j2 of Larry James who smacked the turn two wall breaking his right front wheel off. On the restart Clark used the inside line to try and challenge James for the second spot. It was all Chris Wilson out front as he stretched the lead and picked up the win.

Next up was the 20 lap Sportsman feature. Heath Alvey and Addison Cardwell would lead us to green on the start. Trouble early for the #71 of Billy Branch would slow the pace. Back under green and Adam Mitchell was on the move as he tried to wrestle the second spot away from Cardwell. A wild crash in turn four between Chris Lewis and Chris Johnston would bring out another caution. Back under green again and Brad Seagle put his name in the mix as he battled it out with Mitchell and Cardwell. The top four had ran away from Clyde Stanton who held onto the fifth spot. Seagle would make his way past Mitchell moving into third just behind the top two. Heath Alvey would inch away in the closing laps to pick up the win.

Logan Hickey would set fast time in Gap/Tazewell Street Stocks earning the pole for the feature. Hickey had a very fast car as he rocketed away on the start with Austin Atkins, Rex Coffey and Colby Long in chase. Coffey would loop his #8 machine around in turn four on the first lap bringing out the caution. The battle was on for third as Long, Jonathan Sims fought it out. A caution would wave late setting up a restart. Atkins would pounce and take the top spot away. Hickey would try a cross-over move going into turn three but would end up going for a spin ending his chances at a win. Coffey had rallied back up to the top four after spinning on the opening lap. Atkins would pull away in the closing laps to get the win.

The final race of the night would be the 20 lap Front Wheel Drive feature. A strong field of drivers were on hand to close out the night of racing. Cody Rector would lead ahead of James Burnett, Jacob Sharp and Dylan Johnson. The field quickly found themselves in lap traffic as the first half laps ticked away. Some serious break heat was showing on the right front of the #7W of Gregory Wyatt. Burnett had a strong top five run going until he was hooked off the exit of turn two and sent spinning into the infield. He would return to the race but had to restart at the tail. Cody Rector would hold off Jacob Sharp to cross the finish line first. However, both drivers would be disqualified post race for refusal of the “Buy Rule”. That would hand the win to the #24 of Dylan Johnson.
