Sixty cars checked in for week #4 of weekly championship racing for KAW Valley Companies Race Night for Racing on the River’s Edge. Factory Stocks provided five cars for the night, there were eight Grand Nationals on hand along with seventeen E-Mods, seven USRA Stock Cars, fourteen USRA B-Mods and ten USRA Modifieds for a total of 61 cars for 10 preliminary heat races and six main events on the night.
To setup the main-event lineups, drivers made their way to the track for heat races with Marshall Jewett once again leading the way in Factory Stock Competition. Kacey Shields of Kansas City, Missouri took the Grand National win by advancing from sixth to first by lap four. The three heat winners for the E-Mods included Destyn Whitney of Lincoln, Nebraska, Shawn Burns of Overland Park, Kansas, and Ben Stockton of Kansas City, Missouri. After a week off, defending USRA Stock Champion Brett Heeter of Louisburg, Kansas claimed the lone heat race for his class. USRA B-Mod heat victories went to Luke Nieman and Brad Smith. The final pair of heat race wins of the night went to USRA Modified drivers Darron Fuqua of Mayetta, Kansas and Mark Schafman of Edwardsville, Kansas.
Later in the night, drivers returned for the night’s main events to wrap up Kaw Valley Companies Race Night. Marshall Jewett claimed his third-consecutive main event in Factory Stock action after starting fifth, Jewett moved to second by lap one and went on to dominate for the victory. In the Grand National 10-lap feature, Don Marrs took command of the race on lap seven and went on to secure his first feature win of the year. Billy Spillman made it two in a row in the E-Mods as he won on back-to-back nights Thursday and Friday. In USRA Stock car action, Brett Heeter grabbed the lead on lap 12 in USRA Stock Car action and never looked back securing his second win of the season. Tim Powell grabbed his fourth-consecutive USRA B-Mod victory after taking command on lap 8 of the 15-lap event. Darron Fuqua outlasted his teammate Lance Town and sailed on to collect his first Lakeside Speedway main event of the season with Town hanging on to second after leading early.
