5.13.22 Dog Hollow Speedway Results

STRONGSTOWN, PA (May 14, 2022) – The Friday the 13th opener wasn’t scary for WV’s Daniel Hill (Subway of Clearfield Super Late Models), Michael Duritsky (Townsend Gas & Oil RUSH Late Models), Ashton Duaghenbaugh (Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinders), Brad Benton & John Eckenrod (Schaeffer’s Oil RUSH Stock Cars/Pure Stocks).

The Subway of Clearfield Super Late Models took the track first for their 25-lap event. Ken Schaffer outdueled Braeden Dillinger at the start to take the lead. Schaffer, making a rare visit, held command first fending off Dillinger for two laps before Michael Lake slipped into the runner-up spot. Schaffer and Lake put on a great battle for 18 laps. Lake was actually passing for the lead on lap 15 when the caution flew. Once green they continued their battle when the yellow flew on lap 20. On the ensuing restart, Shaffer took off and so did Daniel Hill. They both seemed to catch Lake sleeping and Hill took over second and by the time they came out of four he was the new leader. Hill led the final five laps to score the win in his first-ever appearance at Dog Hollow Speedway. Hill is a top runner at Tyler County Speedway and he said his motor was a steel block in victory lane. Dave Blazavich came from tenth to claim the runner-up spot over Schaffer, Joe Petyak, John Wayne Weaver, Joe Loffredo, Michael Lake, Paul Kot, Del Rougeux, and Denny Fenton. Heats were won by Dillinger and Shaffer.

Masontown’s Michael Duritsky picked up where he left off last season winning the 20-lap Townsend Gas & Oil RUSH Late Model feature. The win made it four straight in the class. VA’s Kyle Hardy took up the initial chase before breaking under a yellow on lap six. Joe Martin was the next challenger before he slowed, which then caused a six-car pile-up on the front stretch. When the green flew it was Clate Copeman battling for the top spot. Copeman made several challenges before Duritsky was able to pull away for the win. Copeman was second followed by Ben Scott, Tim Snare, Joe Moyer, Colin Casale, Troy Shields, Doug Glessner, Joe Martin, and Andrew Koenig. Duritsky and Martin were heat winners.

In a crazy 15-lap Schaeffer’s Oil RUSH Stock Cars/Pure Stock feature, Duncansville’s Brad Benton took the win even after making a pit stop. Tim Steis and Benton were racing hard when contact took the two out and sent Steis to the pits. Benton came back out, took the lead, and won over John Eckenrod, Nathan Yeaney, Ron Benton, and Tim Laughard. Eckenrod was the highest finishing Crate and won the RUSH Stock Car part of the race. Steis won the lone heat.

Shawn Hadden jumped into the lead at the drop of the green in the 12-lap Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinder feature. Hadden broke under yellow on lap three. This handed the lead over to Ebensburg’s Ashton Daughenbaugh. Daugenbaugh, Dylan Young, and Mike Phillipson were all putting on a show for the fans. Cody and Dylan Young both dropped out with mechanical woes. Phillipson took up the chase along with Matt Knight. Daughenbaugh held on for the second win of his career at DHS. Phillipson, Knight, Quinten Beeman, Noah Swank, Tyler Laughard, Todd Davis, Michael Sinclair, Allen Robison, and Bill Eckenrode filled out the top ten. Heats were won by Daughenbaugh, Hadden, and Dylan Young.
