Friday night May 18th Clinton County Motor speedway for the second week in a row had a wild finish in the limited late model feature, with Jim Yoder of Selinsgrove, Pa., scoring a last lap win in the C&E Containers 25-lap feature. AY Schilling of Jersey Shore Pa., getting the win in the 15-lap Pro-Stocks. Adam Campbell of Danville, Pa. and Roy Orndorf of Beach Creek, Pa., each scored win in the FWD four-cylinders both feature went for 12-laps, with Quinn Roberts, and Jeff Weaver winning in the 270 and 600 Micro sprint events, each in 15-lap races. This Friday night at CCMS it will be spring championship night with divisions in action the Limited late models, Pro Stocks, FWD Four-Cylinders, along with 270 and 600 Micro Sprints.
Jim Yoder who could not start last weeks feature because of electric issues in his #42 started in the ninth position in the feature, but did not become a factor until the last two laps, when he came from the fifth spot to third and was in that spot when off the fourth turn the two leaders Matt Cochran and last weeks winner Dylan Yoder and a lapped car tangled coming off the fourth turn for the checkered flag. Jim stayed on the gas on the outside and scored the win, beating his nephew Andre to the line by 0.404 seconds. “I knew Matt broke something on his car, and kin of figured it was going to get tight, and he and Dylan were going to try and beat each other to the line, then they got into the lapped car and took each other out and we won. My car was not running right, the crabeater was giving me fits, and the more I slowed down the better it worked and it was good enough for me tonight”. If I floored it coming off the corners it would not go and once I stayed off the gas more it worked better”. Noted Jim. Tim Krape led the first two lap of the feature before Matt Cochran took over the lead on lap three. Mat was setting a good pace until a shock and spring problems slowed him, down and with two laps t go Dylan Yoder took over the top spot, Matt stayed close and with two lapped cars battling for there own spot he stayed in striking distance of Dylan, until things broke loose in the fourth turn. Andrew Yoder followed his uncle Jim across the line in second spot with Devin Hart Tim Krape and JR Toner in the top five. Heats went to Dylan Yoder and Cochran
In the Pro Stock feature event is was kind of the same thing for Schilling as Yoder, he was not able to start last weeks feature, but made up for it with a win. This one was not as close though with Schilling starting on the pole of the feature and leading all laps for the win, over last weeks winner Tommy Dawson. “That new engine last week was never tested, and that was my error I did not check, the exhaust ground clearance, and it was a little too tight. This week we put the older engine back in, and I have to thank all of the people that worked long hours this week so we could back in the game”. Said Schilling. Tommy Dawson was followed by Nate Stroup Al Rishel and Chris Snyder. Heats went to Schilling and Stroup.
Two FWD four-cylinder features, with the make-up feature going to Adam Campbell and the regular to Roy Orndorf. Campbell scored the win over Tim Raup his dad Tim, Orndorf and Cody Stover. Campbell led most of the race to score the opening night race win, that went non-stop. Tim Campbell was on his way to the feature win in the regular feature until a wheel came off the right rear, handing over the lead and the win to Roy Orndorf who was in the right spot at the right time with only two laps to go in the feature. “I really did not know the wheel came off the Campbell car, until I saw him head to the pits, when I saw the Luzier and Raup cars behind me for the restart I knew I had to make a good last few laps, and I did and got my first ever win in this division, it feels pretty good”. Stated winner Roy.
The 270 Micro feature was won by Quinn Robert who lead the whole distance for the win but not after some close calls on some restarts, with 11th place started Jeff Weaver making some late race moves. “I think Jeff showed me something on the one restart and that helped me to keep the lead, this car was perfect tonight and the track was very racy the way I like it”. Noted Quinn. Jeff Weaver hung for second with Mason Peters, Gary Keister and Troy Whitesel in the top five. Heats went to Weaver, Quinn Roberts and Kyler Stahl
Jeff Weaver came back to win the 600-micro feature after he and Mike Thompson went back and forth for the top spot the first three laps. After that it was all Weaver as he went on to win the non-stop feature by 3.410 second over Thompson who was making his first ever start at the speedway. “The car was really fast and handling great, Mike gave a good run at the start, he came up through the quarter midgets ranks like I did he is a good driver”. Claimed Jeff. Thompson was second holding off a late race charge from Jake Hummel, then came Jeff’s sister Sierra Weaver and Cody Hauck. Heats went to Thompson and Weaver.
