5.18.18 Lakeside Speedway Results

It was Casey’s General Stores Night at the Lakeside Speedway Friday for week five of weekly championship racing.
Grand Nationals began the night’s racing with their preliminary heat race as veteran driver Terry Bivins of Lebo took the win. E-Mods ran a pair of heats to sort out their main event lineup with Denny Belknap and Trevor Hand grabbing victories. Four-Cylinders returned and produced a pair of heat races as David Petty Jr. and Rocky Rhodes were winners.
Defending track champion Brett Heeter claimed the USRA Stock Car heat win. USRA B-Mods were next for their two heats as Tim Powell took heat one with Andy Bryant claiming the win in heat two. Kerry Davis claimed the USRA Modified heat race win with a fast lap of 19.308 seconds around the 4/10-mile dirt oval.
An exciting 10-lap Grand National main event started the night’s feature races with two green-white-checkered finishes before a winner came to the front. Bivens appeared to be on his way to returning to victory lane but a last-lap pass by Kacey “Kam” Shields foiled that celebration as Shields took the victory.
E-mods were next for their 12-lap main event with previous winners Shawn Burns and Billy Spilman battling to the end before Spilman prevailed for the win.
In Four-Cylinder action it was Steven Bunton collecting the victory.
The USRA Stock Car main went to Heeter for another feature win.
In the USRA B-Mods, Powell was searching for his fifth consecutive win of the year but former USRA B-Mod national champion Bryant had other things in mind as he dominated all of the laps to take his first victory of the year.
In the final race of the night, USMTS regular and three-time winner this season, Stormy Scott dominated the 20-lap main event to close out Casey’s General Stores Night with Davis claiming second.
Next Friday, May 25, weekly racing resumes with USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods, plus Grand Nationals, Factory Stocks and E-Mods.
