TOMMY THUNDERBOWL! MALCOLM SCORES FIRST USAC CRA WIN AT TULARE
Tulare, California (May 20, 2023)………Tommy Malcolm had to wait eight years and 109 starts to make it to AMSOIL USAC CRA Sprint Car victory lane for the first time.
And it was all worth the wait.
On Saturday night, the Corona, Calif. native and his Dino Napier-owned No. 5x reached the promised land for the first time, leading all 30 laps to score his initial series victory at Tulare, California’s Thunderbowl Raceway.
And how fitting it is that the driver nicknamed “Tommy Thunder” picked up his first score at Thunderbowl.
A series regular since 2015, Malcolm grabbed the victory over Brody Roa (Garden Grove, Calif.), who had been riding a three-race winning streak entering the event.
Woodland Auto Display Fast Qualifier Ryan Bernal (Hollister, Calif.) came home third with Austin Williams (Yorba Linda, Calif.) fourth and Logan Calderwood (Goodyear, Ariz.) fifth.
The two heat races, sponsored by FlowDynamics, Inc., In Memory of Jim & Chet Gardner, Factory Wraps, BillsJerky.net and WC Friend Company, were captured by Cody Williams (Norco, Calif.) and Roa.
