5.30.20 ASCS Sooner Sprints Results
Bryan Hulbert – POCOLA, Okla. (May 30, 2020) Ending his weekend in Victory Lane, Blake Hahn dominated action with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products vs. ASCS Mid-South Region showdown at Tri-State Speedway.
Trailing the first eight revolutions, Hahn assumed the lead from Avery Goodman after he tapped the Left Rear of Robbie Price while trying to put him a lap down. Red on Lap 10 for Mike Goodman, who walked away from a violent flip through the third turn, the race was slowed again on Lap 13 as Layne Himebaugh rolled to a stop.
Caution for the final time on Lap 14, Hahn did as he’d done on nearly every restart and quickly distanced himself from the field as the race for second saw Garrett Williamson suddenly in the mix. Starting his race from 17th, the Colombia, Mo. shoe battled back and forth with Covington, Crockett, and Randall with the Tiger Towing backed entry pacing the hub of the high-banked oval.
Working a deep cushion at both ends of the Tri-State Speedway, Hahn built his advantage to 8.253 seconds at the drop of the checkered flag. Garrett Williamson held on for second with Chase Randall third. Matt Covington ended up fourth with Harli White completing the top five.
Terry Easum in sixth was followed by Andrew Deal. Making up 10 positions, Fred Mattox crossed eighth with Washington’s Chris Schmelzle advancing to ninth from 16th. Lance Norick completed the top ten.
The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products races next at Lawton Speedway on June 20. The ASCS Mid-South Region rolls again on June 6 at Riverside International Speedway.
