GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 31, 2019) – The Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints introduced a new format on Friday, which included time trials that set up heat race line ups. It was the first time the NOSA Sprints had a time trial session since June 2006 when they gave drivers two laps on the clock to prepare them for the upcoming National Sprint Tour event that was coming to River Cities Speedway the following week.
Mark Dobmeier went quick time with a lap of 11.462, averaging 94.736mph around the high-banked three-tenths mile oval. Dobmeier also went on to pick up the feature win later in the night. The all-time NOSA wins leader took the lead from Chris Ranten on lap 17 of 25 and never looked back.

Polesitter, Trevor Mell, led the opening lap before Wade Nygaard took the point on lap two.

Nygaard encountered lapped traffic on lap five, which allowed Ranten to close in. Ranten executed a slide job in turns one and two but Nygaard came back with a crossover down the back straightaway. The two veteran drivers swapped the lead no less than five times in a lap and a half as they traded slide jobs and crossovers at both ends of the speedway. Ranten won the battle and opened up a comfortable lead.

Dobmeier got by Nygaard on the lap 10 restart and set his sights on Ranten, but couldn’t catch him in open track. When Ranten came upon lapped traffic, that’s when Dobmeier struck. The driver of the Buffalo Wild Wings No. 13 made a three-wide pass for the lead in traffic before cruising to the feature win.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 31, 2019) – Cole Schill made the trip up to River Cities Speedway on Friday night and left Grand Forks with his second career win at the Bullring. The Horace, N.D. driver started on the pole of the Performance Auto NLRA Late Model feature and led the opening lap over Ryan Corbett. Fifth-place starter, Shane Edginton, worked his way up to the second spot on lap two and ran a close second to Schill. On the final restart with five laps to go, Schill had a challenge from opening night winner, Joey Pederson.
Pederson looked to roll around the outside of Schill right through the middle of the race track. Pederson pulled up to the door of Schill on several occasions but was never able to take the lead. In the closing laps, Pederson faded back to fourth behind Edginton and Brad Seng. Schill went on to collect his first River Cities Speedway win since 2013.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 31, 2019) – Reise Stenberg has been nearly unstoppable as of late in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified ranks. The Argusville, N.D. driver scored the season opener win at River Cities, collected the Jeff Carpenter Memorial win at Jamestown Speedway last Saturday night before picking up another win at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. on Thursday. Stenberg lined up on the pole for the 18-lap Happy Harry’s main event and looked poised to claim another win. Stenberg jumped out to the early lead over Lance Schill.
Schill rode right in Stenberg’s tracks for the first five laps until the two made contact, which sent Stenberg around. The caution was called on Schill as Stenberg reassumed the lead. Austin Hunter and Matt Schow had a good battle going on for second until Hunter pulled off the speedway. Schow then moved up to challenge his brother-in-law, Stenberg, for the lead. Schow and Stenberg ran wheel to wheel for several laps before Schow cleared for the lead exiting turn two with seven to go.

Once out front, Schow checked out and took the win.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 31, 2019) – Bradon Miller and Chase Boen traded the lead in the early going of the Wells Concrete WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Miller led the opening laps until he got loose in turn four, which allowed Boen to take the point. Boen then slipped up on the freshly farmed, and still somewhat greasy, racing surface. Halvorson pulled alongside of Boen and took the lead on lap three. Boen never went away, however, as he hounded the rear bumper of Halvorson at the midway point. Morris, Minnesota’s Eric Riley made a late-race charge into second and looked to steal the win on the last lap.
Off of turn four, heading to the checkers, Riley and Halvorson banged doors amid lapped traffic with Boen still in the mix. Boen and Riley made contact on the front stretch which sent Boen spinning shy of the finish line as Halvorson held of Riley for the win. Boen got his car righted and crossed the line in ninth.
