5.4.19 Sprint Bandits Results

Petty, TX (05/05/19) by DarinShort.com. A wildly
unpredictable race day and night culminated with 12th
place starter and Minnesota transplant ‘Wild Willie’
Eggimann picking up his first-ever 360C.I. Sprint Car
Bandits series feature win at 82 Speedway, and becoming
the 16th different feature winner in the last 20 events.

But the day started in an inauspicious fashion, as the
highly anticipated Grand Opening 25 was to take place at
the brand new Buffalo Creek Speedway in Canton, Texas.
However several days of spring storms made the track
surface and facility too over saturated to race on.

So, series officials jumped in to action to find a track to
race at. And in short order, 82 Speedway (host of last
weeks series event) jumped at the chance and offered the
‘Bandits a place to race.

Track owner Tracy Peters commented: “We are a new
track and the fans thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Bandits event
last week and although we didn’t get a lot of advance
notice, it ended up being another great night of racing
action tonight and we look forward to them returning on
Saturday June 15th.”

After the 4-wide parade lap led by the KoolTrikes.com
Corvette pace car driven by former Wisconsin sprint racer
Randy Butler, the FixYourGenerator.com 25-lap feature
took off with Junior Jenkins (who got upside down at 82
last Saturday) and Claud Estes III battling side by side with
several lead swaps.

After a lap 6 caution, the event would resume with Jenkins
taking back the lead to the roar of the crowd.

In the meantime Eggimann would keep working the high
line of 82’s high banks and would battle 3-wide with lap
traffic with Eggimann eventually clearing the pair of cars
with two laps to go and cruise to a well deserved win in his
J&J Chassis sprinter.

Junior would come home in second for his highest SCB
series finish, with Michael Day taking the final podium
position.

Junior Jenkins would comment “we always seem to run
decent but a lot of times our results don’t match up. So it
sure feels great to battle cleanly with two different drivers
and up in second. I really enjoy racing this series and I’m
glad they found us a track to race at.”

9th place starter Dalton Stevens would finish fourth – which
was a nice rebound after suffering ignition issues last
week. Claud Estes III would round out the top 5 after his
tires would fade later in the event.

An elated Eggimann commented in victory lane that he
really appreciated the setup help from his chief mechanic
and former racer www.cwb15.com – Wayne Brown. Wayne
has been sidelined for the past 3 years after suffering a
near life-ending illness, so it was great seeing them both in
victory lane.

Eggimann also stated that his right rear tire actually had
three nights on it as it had three sets of template paint on
it.

Thanks again to 82 Speedway for hosting this event at
such short notice, our sponsors FixYourGenerator.com
and KoolTrikes.com for jumping up to sponsor the event,
the 82 Speedway fans and staff for their support and we
look forward to seeing everyone at next Saturday’s huge
event at Monarch Motor Speedway featuring the Sprint
Car Bandits vs NCRA Shootout, the Monarch Midget
Championships and Limited Modifed Madness event. Click
