6.1.19 Hagerstown Speedway Results

HAGERSTOWN, MD – Emotions were high in victory lane with Justin Weaver as he took the checkered flag in the 35 lap Late Model Sportsman portion of the Hub City 100 at Hagerstown Speedway.

Weaver took the lead from Jonathan DeHaven on the fourth lap, and survived a few cautions before driving the No.2j to the $1,500 victory for his second LMS win of the season.

Weaver lost his grandmother earlier in the week, and he didn’t hold back in his interview with Danny Wilson.

With a cracking voice, Weaver said: “I don’t know I’ll be able to get through this or not. This one’s for my grandmother, man. We lost her this week, and this win’s for her. I just got to thank all of these guys, they worked so hard this week. It just feels good to stand here after the week we’ve had.”

Finishing second was Barry Miller, who recovered from a spin on Lap 18 to race through the field on his way to the runner-up spot. DeHaven was third, Spike Moore was fourth, and James Lichliter was fifth.

Michael Warrenfeltz returned after a few weeks absence to pick up the 25 Lap Cornett Tribute and the $500 that went to the winner.

As the race began, not even a full lap was complete before a multi-car pileup took out the cars of Danny Atherton, Bryan Kerns, and Drew Fertig.

Doug Hoffman led the first few laps before Warrenfeltz and Dillon Wilson battled him for the lead, then slight contact in the battle for the lead shuffled Hoffman back to third on Lap 7.

Warrenfeltz and Wilson pulled away, as Hoffman battled Dwayne Snyder and Tony Stoneberger for third.

Even while fighting an ill-handling car, Warrenfeltz was able to maintain his sizeable lead throughout the contest, and take the win.

Wilson, Hoffman, Snyder and Stoneberger completed the top five.

Kevin Thomas, Jr. picked up the 25 lap Hobby Stock win by default after race winner Brady Daniels was disqualified for using unapproved tires.

Receiving credit for the top five after the technical infraction were Thomas, Billy Ecton Sr.,Billy Ecton Jr., Sam Caravello, and James Speelman.

Tim Raup took advantage of race leader Adam Campbell’s misfortune in the 15 lap U-Car feature when Campbell’s car slowed drastically with a few laps to go. Campbell was able to keep going long enough to finish second, and Kayla Bookwalter finished third.
