6.1.20 Potomac Speedway Results

By Doug Watson

Budds Creek, MD- Defending track champion Derick Quade collected his first win of the season in last Saturday nights 25-lap Limited Late Model feature at Potomac Speedway. The win for Quade, aboard his Black Diamond no.74, was worth $1000 and would be his 20th career division feature win.
Kurt Zimmerman jumped into the lead at the start of the event with Quade in tow. Zimmerman appeared to have the car to beat as he effortlessly paced the field until his car encountered mechanical issues on the 12th lap, forcing him from the event. Quade would then inherit the lead and drive off uncontested to take the win. “I feel bad for Kurt.” Quade stated in victory lane. “He had a good cat tonight and I would’ve rather raced him for the win, but we’ve lost them the same way, so we’ll take a win any way we can get it.” Tyler Emory came home second with Sam Archer, Brad Rigdon and Todd Plummer completing the top-five.
In the companion 25-lap RUSH Crate Late Model main, Dale Hollidge started on the pole for the feature and would easily control all 25-circuits to post his 7th career RUSH win steering his Rocket no.0. “We really stepped up our Crate program last season and all the hard work is paying off.” Hollidge shared. “There were a lot of good cars here tonight and we were able to get to the front first and I want to thank everyone on this team for a great car tonight.” Matt Hill was solid in second with Jeremy Pilkerton, Ross Robinson and Ronnie Martin Jr. rounding out the top-five.
In support class action, Trent Clemmons scored his first career Potomac feature win in the 15-lap Hobby Stock feature, Shawn Payne drove to his second consecutive win in the 15-lap U-Car contest with Nabil Guffey taking his first of the season and career 12th, in the 15-lap Strictly Stock nightcap.
