6.12.20 Potomac Speedway Results

By Doug Watson

Budds Creek, MD- Defending track champion Derick Quade drove to his second win of the season in last Friday nights 25-lap Limited Late Model feature at Potomac Speedway. The win for Quade, aboard his trusty Black Diamond no.74, would be his career 21st at the venerable Southern Maryland oval.
Tyler Emory and Kurt Zimmerman brought the field to green with Emory launching into the lead as the field exited turn two. As Emory lead, 9th starting Derick Quade sliced through the field and was in second by the 4th lap. Emory appeared to have the car to beat until he got bottled up behind a lapped car on the 23rd lap allowing Quade to zoom by for the eventual win. “I guess luck was on our side here again tonight.” Quade stated in victory lane. “We tried some different things with the car during qualifying but we went in the wrong direction, but the crew got this car right for the feature and we were able to come out on top.” Emory settled for second with Brandon Long, Sam Archer and Billy Tucker completing the top-five.
Second year Crate pilot Jeremy Pilkerton broke through for his first career win in the 20-lap RUSH Crate Late Model main. Pilkerton Vaulted into the lead on the first lap and would have to repel the repeated charges from eventual runner-up Dale Hollidge to secure the win in his Rocket no.8. “Ever since I was a kid I’ve dreamed of winning a Late Model race here and I can’t believe I finally got one.” Said Pilkerton. “I can’t thank my mom and dad and all the people who support this team enough, it’s been a great night.” Joey Love took third with Mike Raleigh and Chuck Bowie rounding out the top-five.
In support class action Deuce Wright came out on top for his first win of the season in the 16-lap Street Stock feature, Colin Long took his first win of 2020 in another wild 15-lap Hobby Stock feature and Ryan Quade took his first of the season in the 15-lap U-Car feature after apparent winner Dominic King did not survive the tech line.
