6.28.21 Lincoln Speedway Results
Abbottstown, PA (June 28, 2021) – Justin Peck scored two career firsts on Saturday in the $7,000 to win Drydene 30. Peck’s win was his first at Lincoln and his first during PA Speedweek. “I love coming here to Lincoln Speedway. It’s one of my favorite tracks in Pennsylvania.”
Peck started on the outside of the front row and took the lead coming out of turn 2, “As soon as I took off I knew we were pretty good.”
With track conditions changing throughout the night, Peck played his cards right to make it to the end of the 30-lap feature, “I was just trying to conserve it a little bit. Getting a curb up on the fence you can’t just go flat out for 30 laps.”
Gerard McIntyre drew the pole in Monday night’s redraw and Indiana invader Justin Peck lined up second.
McIntyre and Peck raced wheel to wheel into turn 1 when the green flag waved. Peck used the top line and had the advantage as they raced out of turn two.
Robbie Kendall was holding off the two NASCAR drivers in the field, Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson. Larson got by Bell for fifth on lap 4.
Kendall slid Ryan Smith for third and took the spot on lap 7. Larson followed to the outside of Smith and took the spot going into turn 3.
Peck caught lapped traffic on lap 8.
Bell tried a slider on Larson but lost a spot to Smith in the process. Bell got back by Smith in turns 1 and 2 to reclaim fifth on lap 11.
Kendall, Larson and Bell started closing in on McIntyre as they worked through lapped traffic.
Kendall was all over McIntyre trying to make the pass for second. Lap 15 saw Kendall and McIntyre make contact in turn 1. McIntyre did a full 360 spin and fell back to sixth and Kendall kept going and was running second.
The yellow flag came out on lap 17 when Freddie Rahmer fell off the pace.
Peck led Kendall, Larson, Bell and Buddy Kofoid to the cone for the restart.
Kendall looked to the inside of Peck and the two raced side by side out of turn 2 but could not make the pass. Kendall was within striking distance of Peck and Larson was running in third.
Larson was riding the top line to try and reel in Kendall. Larson dove under Kendall going into turn 3 with 9 laps to go and it didn’t stick. That move started a fierce battle for second between Kendall and Larson.
Larson was getting a great run off of turn 4 but Kendall got through 1 and 2 better.
Chase Dietz and McIntyre got together in the top of turn 2 on lap 23 to bring out the caution. Larson had made the pass on Kendall for second but the caution came out before they crossed the line.
The current Speedweek points leader, Brent Marks headed to the pits under the caution to change a flat tire.
Peck paced the field ahead of Kendall, Larson, Bell and Kofoid for the restart.
Peck and Larson went to the top with Kendall opting for the bottom.
Larson slid in front of Kendall going into turn 1 but with Kendall getting a better off of turn 2 he took the spot back.
Brandon Rahmer brought out the red flag on lap 26 when he flipped on the front stretch coming out of turn 4.
With four laps to go the top five for the restart were Peck, Kendall, Larson, Bell and Danny Dietrich.
Kendall looked to the inside of Peck on the restart with Larson sitting right behind them.
Dietrich was working on Bell for fourth. Dietrich slid Bell for the spot to take it at the white flag. Kendall looked to the bottom one last time but didn’t have enough to get by Peck.
Peck got to the checkered flag .797 seconds ahead of Kendall. Larson crossed the line third and Dietrich was fourth. Bell completed the top five.
Heat race wins went to Gerard McIntyre, Ryan Smith, Buddy Kofoid and Christopher Bell. Lucas Wolfe set quick time over the 40-car field with a lap time of 13.974.
