Dylan Yoder bested a stout 24 car super late model field Friday during Stocker Chevrolet Night at Clinton County Motor Speedway. The Selinsgrove driver was joined by Bob Sanso (270 micro sprints), Noah Jensen, (pro stocks), and Adam Campbell, ( front wheel drive 4 cyl., stock car) as feature winners in front of a large crowd.
Yoder started eighth in the main and trailed early race leader Bryan Bernheisel, Dave Brouse, Jr and others the first five laps. By lap six Yoder became a factor moving into the second spot while Bernheisel continued to lead. Yoder took the lead on lap eight and never looked back. Bernheisel remained in the second spot until the white flag lap when Dover’s Coleby Frye moved by for the runner up position. Yoder gave the fans and fellow competitors a lesson in driving lapped traffic enroute to the checkered flag. Yoder’s margin of victory was 1.071 seconds over Frye. Bernheisel settled for third with Jim Yoder fourth. Matt Cochran completed the top five. Sixth through tenth were Brouse, Jr,. Mike Lupfer, Tyler Emory, Waylon Wagner and Hayes Mattern. Heat races were won by Jon Rohacevich, Andrew Yoder and Bernheisel who recorded the fastest lap of the night at 15.137 seconds around the 3/8 mile oval.
Yoder earned $2,000 dollars for the victory. The purse was sweetened additionally and spread back through the field by a contribution of $1,400 dollars from S & R Repair, Towing & Recovery of Milesburg, PA and G & R Excavating/Demolition of Tyrone.
Bob Sanso won the 15 lap 270 micro sprint main over Kyler Stahl. Gary Keister finished third with Denny Rinehimer fourth. Lance Spotts was fifth. The remainder of the top ten included Brittany Erlsten, Gene Beadle, Jeffrey Weaver, Skeetz Hockenbrock and Harold Heskell. Sanso, Lance Spotts and Weaver won heat races. Stahl led the first four laps before giving way to Weaver who stayed out front through lap 7. Sanso took over and withstood several caution periods to score the victory.
Noah Jensen was the victor in the 15 lap pro stock feature followed by Tommy Dawson. Will Brunson came home third with Johnny Bouse fourth. Brad Myers finished fifth. The remainder of the top ten include Bradley Benton, A.Y. Shilling, Danny Jensen, Al Jensen and John Zajac. There were 14 cars. Benton led the first three laps before giving way to Dawson. Jenson took the lead on lap 11 and stayed there the final five laps.
Adam Campbell stopped Tim Campbell’s winning streak at three during front wheel drive four cyl., stock car action. Sam Creveling led the first lap with Cody Stover moving by to lead laps two and three. Adam Campbell went to the front on lap four to score the win. Stover settled for second with Tim Campbell third. Roy Orndorf and Creviling completed the top five. The rest of the field included Jon Bower, Matt Sanders and Tony Husler. Tim Campbell won the heat race.
Clinton County Motor Speedway returns to action Friday July 6 at 7:30. Gates open at 5. The pro stock racers will be featured in a 20 lap main. Limited late model also returns along with LHSS sprints, 600 and 270 micro sprints.
