6.8.19 Sprint Bandits Results

Kennedale, TX (6/9/19) by DarinShort.com. At last week’s Sprint Car Bandits® (SCB) series event, for a while it appeared there would be a new winner to
add to the ’18 new winners in past 22 SCB series events’ list. That didn’t end up happening last week, but it did this week when series action shifted to
Kennedale Speedway Park. After last night’s SCB feature event held at Kennedale Speedway Park, a huge crowd witnessed the 18th different series
winner in the past 23 events!

Bo Rawdon and the KSP track crew would be faced with a difficult task, as huge recent rains had inundated the property, yet on race day the forecast was
for sunny and 95°. Paired with a city-induced curfew, the racing would go live under those sunny and hot conditions at 7pm sharp. And jumping ahead just
a bit in the story, there were a total of 170 race teams in the pit area, yet the Sprint Car Bandits feature would take the checkers at 10:12pm.

The surface would retain its abundant moisture throughout the event, eventually leading to 2- and 3-wide racing in the SCB 25-lap feature event.

So, kudos to KSP for masterfully handling the adverse and diverse weather juggling.

When flagman Kevin Fry’s green flag would greet the 21-car SCB starting field, it would be Marcus Thomas out to an early lead, with Jeb Sessums, Chad
Wilson, Will Eggimann and Casey Burkham in tow.

With three racing grooves to choose from, around lap 5 Chad Wilson would switch to a line Sessums wasn’t running to advance to 2nd place.

The event continued with the green light solidly shining when around lap 10 Wilson would set his sights on Thomas, and when Thomas would bobble just a
bit in corner four on the highly technical racing surface, Wilson was there to pounce, speeding by on the very bottom.

It would be the winning move, as the event would continue its green flag status, and Wilson would lap up to around 7th place when he was greeted by the
twin checkers. The entire feature race went off without even one caution on the tricky, elbows-up surface.

Special thanks to Misty and Shannon Kelton (owners of Monarch Motor Speedway) for handling the pre-event Fan Fest at KSP for the SCB in my
absence. It was greatly appreciated. And thanks to Don Cook for event coverage. Click https://youtu.be/LimdPxLxw_c for video highlights of the feature
event.

Hats off once again to the KSP track crew for giving the SCB teams plenty of racing room, where faster drivers could safely advance their spot – which is
the way dirt track racing is supposed to be.

And, great job to all the teams for keeping everything clean and green!

Next up for the Sprint Car Bandits is a return to the very popular and sprawling (in every respect) ¼ mile of 82 Speedway, located about 15 minutes west
of Paris, directly on Hwy 82 in Petty Texas. The event will pay $2,000 to win and down to $300/start with the running of the Texoma 25.

If you’ve yet to visit 82 Speedway, it is much closer to DFW than a lot of people think and is NOT the old Paris Speedway southeast of Paris. As a point of
reference, including a quick fuel stop, you can get from the intersection of Bass Pro Shops/I-30/Bush in Garland to 82 Speedway in 80 minutes.

I like to call 82 Speedway ‘The Land of the XL.’ Translated, everything is XL size, such as the 60’ racing surface that is .26 miles on the pole (1/4 mile) then
in the groove right at 1/3 mile. There are no walls around the entire track – with lots of runoff space wherever you’re racing, which leads to less tore up
equipment. Oversized grandstands that each have 0% obstructed viewing from whatever spot you choose to view from. Huge spectator and pit parking
areas will greet everyone on their arrival. Oh ya, then there’s the track owners, Shelley and Tracy Peters who are some of the nicest people you’ll ever
come across.

Bottom line, if you haven’t been there, here’s your chance on June 15th. A full line-up of 82 Speedway racing divisions will be joining the 360C.I. sprint
cars, including open comp Modifieds, Texas Stocks, Limited Modifieds, Factory Stocks; along with Eco Mods & Stocks. Come early for Fan Fest at 6:30pm,
with the first green flag set for 8pm. Adult G.A. tickets (sold at gate on race day only) are $17, with kids 6-11 $5. Pit passes are $35, with ages 5 and
under $15. Seniors/Military are $15. Click www.82Speedway.com for more details, and interact on Facebook @82Speedway. The series will then move on
to 105 Speedway in Cleveland Texas on June 22nd.
