6.9.18 Enid Speedway Results
By John Rittenoure – ENID, Okla. (June 9, 2018) – The track was tacky, the dust was gone and exciting side-by-side racing prevailed at Enid Speedway on Saturday.
With new track maintenance procedures in place, a wet race surface with a top cushion prevailed all night providing the best racing of the season. It was just what Mark Harrison needed in the Sooner Late Model feature.
Sloppy Hogg led the first 16 laps with Nate Jantz and fourth starting Harrison giving chase. On lap 14 Harrison charged past Jantz at the finish line to take away second. Harrison closed on Hogg and passed him with a move to the inside in turn two of lap 17. Harrison pulled away over the final 8 laps for the victory. Jantz then got around Hogg for second. Kip Hughes was running fourth when he came to a stop on the front straightaway on lap 22 to bring out a yellow. When the race restarted Damian Patocka took over fourth and Cole Traugott, driving in his first Sooner Late Model race, rounded out the top five.
Dustin Allen led the first 13 laps of the Sooner Modified feature with Greg Burt close behind. On lap 14 Burt took over the top spot to post the win. Allen settled for second. Travis Johnson finished in third.
Brandon Kenny set a fast pace in the sport mod feature winning over points leader Troy Bynum who charged from eighth starting position.
Marvin Allen came from sixth starting position to take the lead and was first cross the finish line in the pure stock feature. However, Allen was disqualified after a post-race inspection and second place finisher Brad Costello was awarded the victory. Leighton Clift and Tyler Scruggs rounded out the top three.
