FOUR WINNERS ON $5 NIGHT AT BEDFORD
July 12th, 2025
Once again Bedford Speedway danced around Friday rain showers to complete a show, this time the annual $5 night. Kyle Deneen rallied late to grab another Semi Late win while Mitch Thomas made a rare appearance and took the EMod event. In other action, Braydale Bauman was the Pure Stock winner and point Leader Tom Brady prevailed in 4 Cylinder action.
Greg Cornell took the Semi Late lead at the start but he was hounded heavily by Bob Jay. Jay was all over Cornell from the start but it was a mob scene behind them as five drivers battled for third and ran the leaders down.
A quick yellow on lap 4 intensified things as all six front runners were brought together with Kyle Deneen emerging in third. On the restart Cornell again held off Jay and the mob but Deneen discovered the far outside groove and slid by Jay on lap 10.
With the top five positions changing on almost every lap. Deneen personally attacked Cornell for the lead, finally getting by on lap 11. At that point Cornell fell into the clutches of the mob, led by Jay and the Weyandts but doggedly held them off. as Deneen scooted away.
At the finish, Deneen took the win followed by Cornell, Brian and Kyle Weyandt and Jay, Heats were won by Dalton Weyant, who was the first feature dropout and Dave Brown who fell out a lap later.
In opposition to the Semi Late event, the EMod 20 lapper was tame. Brandon Hoover led early but Mitch Thomas zipped by on lap two and sped away. Behind the two leaders the Taylor family, making their first 2025 appearance, battled for third.
Thomas amassed a huge lead but by about lap 15 Hoover started closing. Thomas had amassed such a lead that he was able to hold on for the win, followed bt point leader Hoover, Jonathan and Evan Taylor and David Green. Evan Taylor won the heat.
Braydale Bauman took the Pure Stock lead at the start and ran unhindered as a wild five and six car battle raged behind him. Brock Bunn led that group, running second Bunn ran the best race of his Bedford career, running second until Dominic Weyand got by on lap 12 bringing Denver Dishong with him.
As Bauman took the win. Weyandt completed his exciting race long heated battle with Dishong to hold him off and score second ahead of him. Kyle Beckett and Chubby Childers completed the top 5. Bauman and Dishong won the heats.
Jason Diehl led the opening laps of the 4 Cylinder event but Tom Brady arrived on his bumper early and tried lap after lap to get by. As they battled, the crowd at the front grew as Todd Price and Colin Welsh joined in.
Finally on lap 6 Brady snuck by for the lead and Diehl had to fend off the mob in second. Price thinned out the mob by pitting on that lap but Welsh, Wayne Brenize and Tyler Becket ran in a mob behind Diehl.
The final lap was wild as Brenize and Becket both got around Diehl for position, and Welsh impacted the front stretch wall and got airborn within sight of the checkered flag,. Brady took the win as Brenize grabbed second at the line ahead of Beckett, Diehl and Jeff Marlett who managed to dodge the Welsh car to cross the line. Isaac Kormanski and Josh Corbin won the heats. Just like the Semi late event both heat winners were the first two dropouts in the feature.
