7.12.19 MOWA Sprints Results

Scoring his first Built Ford Tough Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) Sprint Car Series Delivered by Morrow Brothers Ford, Inc. win of 2019, St. Helena, California driver Rico Abreu (Rico Abreu Racing) did so on Friday night at Lincoln Speedway in dominating fashion – but not without a challenge from former series champion Parker Price-Miller.

Abreu jumped to the early lead, after moving past pole sitter Steve Short entering turn one on the first lap, with Parker Price-Miller following him around the top groove of the ¼-mile Illinois bullring. Abreu mastered the track, piloting his #24 machine through multiple grooves, in and out of lapped traffic in the 25-lap affair.

A red flag on lap 23, which saw Paul Nienhiser go airborne in turn one, ultimately ending up hanging in the catch fence set the field up for a green-white-checkered finish. Before the red flag, Abreu had built a commanding filed over the field, maneuvering his way through lapped traffic over Price-Miller and Nienhiser.

Returning to racing action, Abreu was able to extend his lead over the rest of the field and pick up his ninth-career victory with the MOWA Sprint Car Series.

The MOWA Sprints return to action July 26 and 27 in the “I-72 Shootout”, a two-race weekend at Jacksonville Speedway on Friday, July 26 and on Saturday July 27, at Macon Speedway.
