GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 12, 2019) – For the fifth consecutive week, Dustin Strand visited RydellCars.com Victory Lane. His first four wins came in his WISSOTA NLRA Late Model, but on Friday, it was in his No. 71 WISSOTA Modified.
Strand started on the outside of the front row for the 25-lap main event with Lance Schill to his inside. Strand grabbed the lead on the opening lap as Schill ran a close second. A caution slowed the race four laps in and on the ensuing Evergreen Insurance restart, Rick Delaine was able to sneak underneath Schill for second.
Schill battled back on the high side to reclaim the spot as Strand quickly put a full straightaway gap between himself and the rest of the field.
Strand was untouchable as he cruised to the win over Schill and 12th place starter Ward Imrie. Delaine and Doyle Erickson rounded out the top five.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 12, 2019) – Austin Pierce raced to his second consecutive River Cities Speedway win with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints. Brendan Mullen and Mark Dobmeier led the field of twenty 410 Sprint Cars to the green flag, with Mullen racing to the lead on the opening lap.
Mullen, a 16-year-old second-year Sprint Car pilot, held off multiple slide job attempts by Dobmeier in the early stages. Mullen began to encounter lapped traffic on lap five. He entered high in turns one and two to get around a lapped car, but slid off the track to bring out the caution.
Dobmeier inherited the lead on the restart and showed the way until Pierce charged forward to challenge him. Dobmeier, who is normally unbeatable in lapped traffic, got held up by a lapped car, which allowed Pierce to take the lead at the halfway point of the 25-lap feature.
Dobmeier battled back with a slide job, but Pierce eventually cleared the Buffalo Wild Wings No. 13 to take the position. Two laps later, last Saturday’s winner at Greenbush Race Park, Nick Omdahl, moved past Dobmeier for second. With five to go, Dobmeier came storming back to the front as he moved by Omdahl and reeled in Pierce for the lead. At the white flag, Dobmeier dove to the inside of turns one and two to pull even with Pierce, but Pierce’s momentum was the difference. Pierce held on to claim his second win of the season as Dobmeier and Chris Ranten rounded out the podium.
“It’s awesome to be able to run with that 13 car. He seems to be unbeatable but we might be catching up a little bit,” said Pierce in RydellCars.com Victory Lane.
