7.14.18 Dog Hollow Speedway Results

STRONGSTOWN, PA (July 14, 2018) – Boswell’s Doug Glessner picked up his first-ever Dog Hollow victory in winning the 25-lap Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature on Saturday night. Robert Cossell (358 Semi Lates) and Brad Benton (AMSOIL Pure Stocks) were also first time winners this season. Jack Theys (DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinders), Jon Lee (358 Semi Lates), Brian Borawiec, Jr. (270 Micro Sprints) and Mike Laughard (RUSH Crate Late Models) were all repeat winners on the Film Center of Altoona Night.

Doug Glessner has been racing on and off at Dog Hollow since it opened but it took until tonight for him to get his first-ever checkered flag in the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models. Glessner led every lap but he had his hands full until the final few laps. Glessner and Dave Blazavich waged a torrid battle before Jon Lee took over on lap eight. Those three drivers put on a show for the fans with Glessner claiming the win. Lee was second over Blazavich, Scott Stein and John Wayne Weaver. Sixth through tenth were Ryan Christoff, Ryan Claycomb, Tom Decker, Jr., Tom Jobe and Ace Howdershelt. Qualifying heats went to Lee and Joe Petyak.

The RUSH Crate Late Models saw Twin Rocks racer Mike Laughard out race Michael Duritsky in to turn one and lead all 20-laps for his second victory of the season. Duritsky stayed glued to his bumper but wasn’t able to make a pass. Duritsky settled for second over Joe Moyer, Troy Shields and Tim Snare. Bob Schwartzmiller, Andrew Koenig, Brandon Lott, Ryan Frazee and Jonathan Stockdale completed the top ten. Heats were won by Snare and Duritsky.

Mike Shoemaker led the initial two laps of the 18-lap 358 Semi Late feature. Jon Lee took the top spot away on lap three and raced off for win number 4 on the season. Robert Cossell worked his way into second on lap nine to finish second over Nick Fulmer, Shoemaker, Jeff Weakland, Josh Whetstone, Caleb Whiteford, Garth Fochler, Vern Ward and Gary Fulmer. Shoemaker and Cossell were the heat winners.

In the make-up 358 Semi Late feature from June 16, it was Mt. Pleasant’s Robert Cossell picking up his first win of 2018. Cossell led all 15-laps holding off the strong challenge from Jon Lee, who finished second. Nick Fulmer was third over Jeff Weakland, Vern Ward, Caleb Whiteford, Josh Whetstone and Garth Fochler.

John Costa raced from his fourth starting spot to take the lead on lap one of the 12-lap DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinders. At the halfway point mayhem broke loose in turn two that ended up with Costa flipping out over and Zack Wissinger taking a trip to the hospital. Both drivers are ok. The new leader was now sixth starting Jack Theys in Brady Miller’s 613. Theys continued on for his fifth win of the season. Teammate Mike Potter was second ahead of Bill Eckenrode, Matt Weltz, Chuck Dizzle, Destiney Bingaman, Todd Davis, Skyler Eckenrode, Larry Weltz and Brad Lemonvich. The heats were won by Costa and Theys.

Brian Borawiec, Jr., of Cortland, OH, shot from his fourth starting spot to lead the first lap of the 270 Micro Sprints. Borawiec led all 15-laps, holding off the advances of Todd Reusser for his second win of the season. Borawiec also won Friday night at Mercer. Following Borawiec and Reusser were Ryan Beatty, Sean McAndrews, David Hawkins, Noah Wirginis, Chase Metheney, Tyler Hawkins, Tanner Price and Anthony Pasqurella. Reusser and Borawiec were the heat winners.

Ron Benton led the first ten laps of the AMSOIL Pure Stock feature. Ron and Brad Benton were in a heated battle but under caution on lap ten Ron had a flat left rear sending him to the pits. This handed the lead over to ninth starting Richard Waltman, Jr. Waltman led the final five laps but was DQed after tech giving the win to Brad Benton. It was Benton’s first of the season. Justin Queen was second over Anthony Monteparte, Amber Mills and Marc Whetstone, Sr. Heat wins went to Brad Benton and Duke Davison.
