Winchester, VA- Tyler Bare drove to the win in last Saturday nights 40-lap Late Model feature at Winchester Speedway. The win for Bare, worth $3000, was his first career Late Model win at the track and it came steering the iconic Bryan Klinedinst owned Rocket XR-1 no.43A
Andy Anderson and Tyler Bare shared the front row for the start with Anderson booming into the race lead as the field scattered off turn two. As Anderson built up a healthy lead, 5th starting Kyle Hardy was coming to the front in a hurry. Hardy reached second by the 19th lap and ran down Anderson during the caution free run.The next 11-circuits had the Winchester faithful on their feet as Anderson and Hardy went hard at it for the lead with multiple slide jobs before the duo crashed in turn one, bringing out the only caution of the event. Tyler Bare, who was third at the time, would inherit the lead and would have to fend off a pesky Jason Miller over the final 10-laps to score the crowd pleasing win. “We’re on a roll right now and I hope we can keep it going.” Bare stated in the Winchester victory lane. “It was a bad deal there for Andy and Kyle, but this is a great win for our team.” Superb track conditions aided Bare in his winning drive. “When they watered the top before the feature I was a bit worried.” Said Bare “But the track came to us at the end and it was wide and smooth and you could race all over it.” Dale Hollidge, Brad Omps and Scott Palmer rounded out the top-five.
Allen Brannon dominated the final 30-laps to score his first feature win of the season in the make-up “Clash for Cash” 35-lap Late Model event that was cut short to curfew a few weeks back. Brannon steered his Longhorn chassis no.30 to the $3000 win over eventual runner-up Andy Anderson. “The track was a little to fast here early for an old guy like me.” Brannon stated post race. “We found a few things with this car the past few races and it feels pretty good to finally get a win.” Dale Hollidge, Jason Miller and Kyle Hardy trailed at the finish.
Defending Limited Late Model champion Jonathan DeHaven drove to his 3rd win of the season in the divisions 20-lap main. Lining up 5th for the start, DeHaven snared the race lead Matt Marshall on the 6th lap and drove his Swartz chassis no.13D to a relatively easy win over runner-up Austin Stover. “This has been a great season for us.” DeHaven stated. “We’ve been fighting an electrical issue the past few weeks and I can’t thank all the people who helped to get this thing straightened out.” Matt Marshall, Bruce Kane and Dallas Richards completed the top-five.
In support class action, current point leader Craig Parrill became the first repeat winner of the season with his triumph in the 15-lap Pure Stock feature, Dylan Rutherford scored his 2nd win of 2018 in the 15-lap Enduro Stock feature and Jason Wilkins romped to his 5th of the season in the 15-lap U-Car main.
