7.14.23 Big Diamond Speedway Results

We have all seen the big three, Craig Von Dohren, Duane Howard and Jeff Strunk drive to dominating wins over the years at Big Diamond Speedway. You can now add Brett Kressley to that list. Kressley left do doubt he was the car to beat last night using the high groove to go to the lead and then checking out on the field to win the Quandel Concrete Modified feature. Cliff Brian Jr was the winner of the first ever wingless sportsman feature held at the speedway. In the Red, White and Blue Autos Roadrunner Crazy 8’s, feature winners Kris Ney (2), Alex Schoffstall and Chuck Fayash. Young Alex Bartillo won his first ever feature in the Big Creek Concrete Rookie Crate class.

The Quandel Concrete modified 25-lap main event saw Aleia Geisler and Scott Albert lead the 24-car field to the green flag with Geisler taking the early lead over Albert. Fifth place starter Mike Lisowski was the car on the move early on as he went by Ryan Watt and Kevin Beach Jr into second with Watt by Beach for third. Geisler continued to pace the field as Lisowski was tracking her down. Brett Kressley was also making his way towards the front from his eleventh starting spot and was up to 6th with five laps complete.

Kressley continued his march to the front getting around Mike Gular for fifth on lap 10 and one lap later was by Craig Von Dohren for fourth. A caution on lap 12 slowed the race pace with Geisler leading Lisowski, Watt, Kressley and Von Dohren.

Lisowski took advantage of his outside spot on the restart to power by Geisler for the lead with Kressley following right behind him to get past Watt and Geisler and into second. Unfortunately for Lisowski he was never credited for leading the lap as Kressley continued his onslaught to the lead by powering around Lisowski for the lead going through turns three and four. The yellow was out again on lap 13 as Ken Eckert Jr, Corey Renninger and Bryan Rhoads got together in turn three.

Kressley chose the outside on the restart and powered by Lisowski to remain in front as Von Dohren went by Watt for third. Kressley was gone at this stage opening up a commanding lead. The battle remained for second as Lisowski and Von Dohren were waging war. The two ran side by side on lap 20 before Von Dohren finally made the pass on lap 21. By this point, Von Dohren had no shot at leader Kressley as he was out front by a long margin. Kressley streaked under the checkered flag for his third win of the season with Von Dohren, Lisowski, Watt and Gular the top five.

“The track was good tonight, he got that turned around. The last couple of weeks it was not the best to have to pass on but Jake got that turned around,” said Kressley. “This is a good car and Troy back at the shop and Ron (Seltman) of Fast Four Shocks, we all put our heads together. I felt we weren’t performing the way we should have for a couple of weeks there and we made a statement and came out here good again. You need those (restarts) every now and then to regroup the field, when it gets spread out here it gets a little tough.”

In the first ever visit of the Wingless Sportsman to Big Diamond Speedway, Cliff Brian Jr and Rohan Beasley were on the front row for the 20-lap man event. Multiple spins on the opening lap delayed the start causing the field to try it again. Brian Jr would go to the lead over Beasley and lead lap one. The yellow was out again after one lap with a couple of cars getting together in turn one. Brian Jr once again led the way on the restart with Beasley, Billy Brian and Trent Yoder all battling for second. Brian Jr was on the loud pedal opening up a huge lead over the field as the red flag was displayed on lap eight as the No. 38DD of Luke Lenker went over in turn one right at the pit entrance. The driver was okay.

When racing resumed, it was Brian Jr continued to pace the field as Billy Brian went by Beasley for second. While Brian Jr was pulling away in the lead, his Uncle Billy Brian was having a great battle for second with Tony Jackson who finally was able to take second away on lap 19. Cliff Brian Jr was not going to be denied as he sped to the checkered flag with a big lead over Tony Jackson, Billy Brian, Trent Yoder and Rohan Beasley.

The Big Creek Concrete Crate 602 Rookie feature saw McKenzi Smith lead her first lap of the season at the start, but third-place starter Alex Bartorillo took the lead on lap two and was never challenged the rest of the way to win his first ever feature over Danica Getz, Brennan Chapman, Brady Shea & Jax Yohn.

The Red White and Blue Roadrunners competed in their annual Crazy 8’s program consisting of four 8 lap features. Kris Ney was the big winner of the night winning two races with Alex Schoffstall and Chuck Fayash winning one race apiece.
