STRONGSTOWN, PA (July 16, 2022) – Jon Lee was making his first visit in a Townsend Gas & Oil RUSH Late Model and came away the winner. Shawn Hadden scored his first win in the Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinders. Repeat winners were Michael Lake (Subway of Downtown Clearfield Super Late Models), Tim Steis & Tim Laughard (Schaeffer’s Oil RUSH Stock Cars/Pure Stocks), and Dylan Young (Texas Auto Ranch Mod 4’s).

Michael Duritsky and Jon Lee led the Townsend Gas & Oil RUSH Late Models to the green for their 20-lap event. Lee was able to take the lead on the start with Duritsky in tow. The high-flying pair pulled away from the pack while Tim Snare and Colin Casale battled for third. Duritsky kept Lee in sight through two cautions but could not mount a pass for the lead. Lee won with Duritsky second, followed by first-time visitors Donnie Dotson and Ryan Hare. Filling out the top ten were Raymond Dallape, Bo Lockwood, Logan Jaquay, Kyle Smith Jr., Mike Laughard, and Joe Moyer. Taking the heat wins were Duritsky and Lee.

Up next on the track was the Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinders for their 12-lap feature. Adam Pletcher led the opening lap before he brought out a yellow. This handed the lead over to Tyler Laughard. Laughard led for seven laps, and then Shawn Hadden passed for the top spot. Hadden then led the final five laps for his first DHS win this season. Pletcher drove back through the field to take second on the final lap over Ashton Daughenbaugh, Tyler Laughard, Melvin McCartney, Bill Eckenrode, Joseph Kaus, Christina Killinger, Ethan Sinclair, and Charles Watroba. Picking up heat wins were Watroba and Pletcher.

Joe Petyak took off at the drop of the green, being chased by Michael Lake and Andy Boozel in the Subway of Downtown Clearfield Super Late Models. The trio opened up a slight lead from the rest of the pack. After an initial yellow on the opening lap, the 25-lap race went non-stop. Petyak led lap after lap with Lake applying pressure. With five laps to go, Petyak went to the low side to pass some lapped cars, which was the break Lake was looking forward to. Lake used the outside groove to get around Petyak and sped to his second win of the season. Petyak held on for second over Andy Boozel, Del Rougeux, John Wayne Weaver, Joe Loffredo, Clinton Hersh, Dave Blazavich, Dylan Fenton, and Sam Gindlesperger. Qualifying heats were won by Petyak and Lake.

Brad Benton was looking for win number three in the Schaeffer’s Oil RUSH Stock Car/Pure Stock feature. Benton took the lead on the opening lap with Greg Blystone glued to his bumper. RUSH crate car of Tim Laughard was third with Tim Steis following him. Benton and Blystone were putting on a show for the fans until what looked like contact between the two drivers handed the lead over to Steis. Steis led the final two laps for this second win this season. Jeremy Fama was second over Tyler Blystone, Brad Benton, and Tim Laughard in his crate-powered machine. Sixth through tenth were John Eckenrod, Robert Lydic, Greg Blystone, John Mazey, and Ron Benton. Tim Laughard’s fifth-place finish gave him his fourth win in the RUSH portion of the race. Steis and Brad Benton were heat winners.

Mike Phillipson led the first two laps of the Mod 4 feature before heat winner Dylan Young passed him down the back straight. Once out front Dylan Young held off his younger brother Cody Young for the win. Following the Young brothers were Mike Phillipson, Timothy Baker, and Dustin Gibbons.
