G.W. Egbert, IV stepped out to an early lead in his first race back with the Southern Texas Late Model Series after an injury in a modified race in March sidelined him for the first few months of the season. Patrik Daniel would take over the lead with a pass on the high side and never look back. Daniel would get collected with a lapped car with two to go, but was able to hold off the field on a green, white, checkered restart.
Neil “Scooter” Manchester took the first heat race win, The “Texas Tornado” Mark Shipman took his first ever heat race win with the series in heat two, and Patrik Daniel topped the very fast third heat.
Cody Leonard made quick work of getting to the top 5 from his 12th place start, and would eventually work his way into 2nd.
