7.25.20 Tazewell Speedway Results
As most eyes were focused on the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals title fight between Brandon Overton and Chris Madden, it was Dakotah Knuckles that stole the show by winner the Ray Varner Ford 53. Dale McDowell had the early lead over Ross Bailes and Knuckles. Bailes suffered a flat on lap 18 and that moved Knuckles into second. Then on lap 20, McDowell also suffered a flat tire. That handed the lead to Knuckles who held off late challenges from Michael Chilton to claim the win.
Overton secured the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals title with a 5th place finish. After suffering his own flat on lap 18, Overton’s title hopes looked to be long shot. But after a lap 20 restart, Madden was caught up in a spin involving David Payne and John Baker. While Overton was gaining positions on the track, Madden could not gain an positions and finished second in the series’ point standings.
