7.27.12 URSS Sprints Results

DODGE CITY — It was one heck of a week for Jake Bubak.

The teenager captured his first United Rebel Sprint Series career victory July 21 at Calhan, Colo. Then six days later, he won again — this time in Kansas.

Bubak won for the second time Friday night at the 3/8-mile oval at Dodge City Raceway Park.

Bubak started third and watched as Zach Blurton paced the field on the first lap. But pole-sitter Keefe Hemel got by Blurton for the lead on the second lap and would lead until lap 12.

That’s when Luke Cranston would take over the lead, followed by Hemel and Bubak.

Bubak got by Hemel on lap 14, then passed Cranston for the lead on the next lap. The Colorado teen would go on to lead the rest of the way in the 25-lap feature.

Meanwhile, the racing action heated up behind him. Ray Seemann cracked the top three on lap 18, then passed Cranston on lap 23 to move into second, where he would finish.

Cranston would end the night third, followed by Hemel and Jason Martin.

Heat race winners were Ty Williams, Bubak and Martin.

Lance Davis won the Keizer Aluminum Racing Wheels Hard-Charger Award, going from 20th to 12th.
