7.27.19 Fuel Late Models Results

Continuing his recent hot streak on the tour, Willie Milliken led flag to flag last night at Cherokee Speedway to pick up his third series victory of the season. With last night’s triumph, “The Wild Child” becomes the first driver to earn back to back wins in 2019 and in the process elevated himself to the runner-up spot in the championship standings.

After a blistering lap of 15.476 seconds in Renegade Racing Fuel Time Trials, Milliken and championship leader Steve Banal led the field to start of the 30 Lap City Chevrolet Main Event. Though Milliken flexed his muscle early and quickly established himself as the car to beat, the side by side action behind the race leader intensified immediately. Jay Sessoms, Taylor Puckett, Dillon Brown, Ron Parker, Adam Yarbrough, and Derek Rogers traded positions amongst themselves early as Banal looked to try to reel in Milliken. Puckett would eventually slip by Banal on a restart and position himself for a chance to chase down the race leader while multiple drivers swapped positions back and forth throughout the Top 10. Despite Puckett’s efforts, the Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina driver would not be denied. Milliken completed his clean sweep of the evening as Puckett, Banal, Brown, and 9th starting Austin Holcombe rounded out the Top 5.
