7.3.20 Potomac Speedway Results

By Doug Watson

Budds Creek, MD- Bunker Hill West Virginia’s Andy Anderson drove a flawless race to score his first Late Model win of the season in last Friday nights “Firecracker 35” at Potomac Speedway. The win for Anderson, worth a hefty $3500 winners share, was the 9th of his Potomac career and it came steering his Bruce Kane owned Rocket no.25.
Anderson and Dale Hollidge made up the front row for the start of the event with Anderson taking control as the field blasted off turn two. Eventual runner up Justin Weaver dogged Anderson the entire way, but Anderson clearly had the car to beat as he would pace all 35-circuits. “I have to thank Bruce Kane for the opportunity to dive his car this year.” Anderson stated in victory lane. “I knew when we drew the number one pill for the feature it would be my race to lose, and I’m happy we were able to get the win here tonight.” Dale Hollidge took third with Kenny Moreland and Jamie Lathroum completing the top-five.
Former track champion Chuck Bowie collected his first win of the season in the companion 20-lap RUSH Crate Late Model main. Like Anderson in the Late Models, Bowie took the lead on lap one and eventually lead the distance. “I think we had a shock going bad there at the end and I’m glad it held together.” Bowie stated post race. “My wife Rosie does most of the work on this car and I wouldn’t be here without her.” Mike Raleigh was strong in second with Jeremy Pilkerton, Megan Mann and Timmy Booth rounding out the top-five.
In support class action, Deuce Wright scored his second win of the season in the 16-lap street stock feature, Mason Hanson rolled to his first career Potomac feature win in the 20-lap Hobby Stock championship, with Allen Griffith scoring his first of the season in the 15-lap U-Car nightcap.
