7.4.18 URC Sprints Results

PORT ROYAL, PENNSYLVANIA (July 4th, 2018)-
The Capitol Renegade United Racing Club made their second appearance of the season at Port Royal Speedway on July 4th as part of their Pennsylvania Speedweek show.
With the possibility of rainfall, track crews sealed the track and prepared for an uphill battle. After a few hours of light but consistent moisture, the track crews went to work. Although the rain may have saturated the grounds, it made the track incredibly fast.
19 cars showed up to do battle with their 360 sprint cars. Curt Michael won heat one and Chad Layton stole heat two.
There was an abundance of tight racing in the feature event, which payed $2,000 to win. Many made it work on the bottom while some also found a fast line around the top of the speedway.
Curt Michael and Chad Layton had an intense battle for the lead while Steve Buckwalter watched from behind, carefully waiting for the right time to make his move. On lap 9, Buckwalter took advantage of the two battling cars and passed them both in one swift move.
The field caught lap traffic by lap 12, Layton and Michael were able to catch back up to Buckwalter and apply pressure. Meanwhile, Eddie Strada and Josh Weller trade slide jobs each turn for the fourth position.
A restart on lap 17 gave Buckwalter a chance to pull away again. Eddie Strada, who started in 8th, moved to third on this restart. As Buckwalter walked away, Layton and Strada gave every attempt to catch up, to no avail. Josh Weller and Curt Michael had an intense battle to the line, but it would be Michael who finished fourth while Weller rounded out the top five.
The Franks Fine Swine and Beef Hard Charger is Adam Carberry with an impressive run to 11th from his 17th starting position. The green 47 was on a rail moving through traffic. (+6)
