7.4.20 BOSS Sprints Results

Rawson, Ohio driver Ricky Peterson, aboard the SC Racing 9x of Stan Courtad, raced from his third starting spot to score his first ever MPD Racing – BOSS feature win last night at Atomic Speedway. A total of 26 cars signed in for competition representing six states and New Zealand. Due to technical difficulties, the transponder scoring system was down, scrapping qualifying. Heat races had to be lined up according to the pill draw.

Luke Hall won the first heat race with Lee Underwood running second to secure the redraw spots. Heat race #2 was claimed by Peterson from his 4th starting spot over Pennsylvania stalwart Carmen Perigo. The third and final heat race was won by 7th starting Dallas Hewitt over Lance Webb. The eleven car B-Main event was won by non wing rookie Brandon Conkel over Cody Gardner, Kory Crabtree, Isaac Chapple and Dustin Ingle, who all transferred.

The redraw for the main event put Luke Hall and Lee Underwood on the front row with Peterson and Lance Webb in row 2. Following a perfect 4 wide salute to the fans, the 20 car A-Main field roared to the green flag. The pair of nine cars put on a great battle for the lead that saw 2 major incidents. B-Main winner Brandon Conkel was having a great run but took a nasty ride in turn 3, flipping multiple times. He climbed from the car but WAS transported to a local hospital for treatment of a concussion. Later in the event, Auckland, New Zealand driver Max Guilford got into, and on top of, the turn 4 concrete wall, riding atop it for a few hundred feet before falling back to the track. He also climbed from the car unhurt.

Peterson raced on to the main event win over Dallas Hewitt, Matt Westfall (from 14th), Lee Underwood and Scotty Weir rounding out the top 5. The rest of the top 10 was Lance Webb, Steve Irwin, Isaac Chapple, Carmen Perigo and Korbyn Hayslett. Luke Hall, who led early and raced for the win throughout the event, had a deflating tire on the final lap that relegated him to a 12th place finish.

The next BOSS event scheduled for Pittsburgh Motor Speedway on July 18 has been canceled due to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania closing sports venues over COVID-19. An Ohio race track has asked for the date, so watch for an announcement later this week!
