8.12.22 Dog Hollow Speedway Results
STRONGSTOWN, PA (August 13, 2022) – Alex Ferree (Subway of Downtown Clearfield Super Late Models), Jeremy Wonderling (Townsend Gas & Oil RUSH Late Models) and Justin Kann 358 Limited Lates) all visited Victory Lane for the first time in 2022 at Dog Hollow Speedway Friday night. Drivers picking up repeat wins were Tim Laughard (Schaeffer’s Oil RUSH Stock Cars) and Ashton Daughenbaugh (Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinders).
In the 25-lap Subway of Downtown Clearfield Super Late Models there were three different leaders before Saxonburg’s Alex Ferree came out on top of the 17 car field. Ferree won $2000 for his winning effort. Polesitter Denny Fenton took off at the start and led the first ten lap. Jon Lee powered by to lead lap eleven. Lee, Ferree and Fenton put on a three car show for the fans. They went after each other lap after lap until Ferree went low and made the pass for the lead on lap 17. Ferree couldn’t shake Lee but was able to hold of for his first win of the year at DHS. Jon Lee was second over Michael Lake, Andrew Wylie, Denny Fenton, Greg Moore, Dan Angelicchio, Colton Flinner, Joe Petyak and John Wayne Weaver. Denny Fenton and Jon Lee were the heat winners.
Clint Hersh looked to be well on his way to victory in the 20-lap 358 Limited Late Model paying $1000 to win. Hersh, at one point, had a straightaway lead. Hersh’s luck changed when the yellow flew on lap twelve. The green flew and Hersh took off with seventh starting Just Kann in his rearview mirror. Hersh led one more lap before Kann was able to get under him and take the lead on lap 14. Kann then pulled away the final seven laps to score the win. Kann, of Huntingdon, has one other win in the crate late models. Hersh held on for second followed by Tom Decker III, Brandon Householder, Jim Decker, Rodney Phillips, Tom Decker Jr., Mike Blazer, Jarid Ivory and Rob Marhefka. Clint Hersh and Jarid Ivory won the two heats.
One of the best races of the night belonged to the Townsend Gas & Oil RUSH Late Models. The 25-lap event paid $1500 to win. The race was a battle of the Wonderling’s, Brady and Jeremy, of Wellsville, NY. Brady Wonderling grabbed the lead at the start. He was chased by Jeremy Wonderling, Michael Duritsky and Ryan Frazee. Jon Lee joined them to make it a five car race. Brady lost the lead to Jeremy on lap 12. Michael Duritsky replaced Brady Wonderling in the runnerup spot and set out to battle Jeremy Wonderling. Jeremy Wonderling won a five car battle for his first-ever win at Dog Hollow. Michael Duritsky, Jon Lee, Brady Wonderling, Ryan Frazee, Mike Wonderling, Ryan Hare, Mike Laughard, Dan Angelicchio and RJ Dallape rounded out the top ten in the 17 car field. Heat wins went to Brady Wonderling and Jon Lee.
Ebensburg’s Ashton Daughenbaugh survived a wild one in the 15-lap Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinder feature that saw two roll overs. Daughenbaugh took home his biggest win worth $400. Tyler Laughard was the initial leader until he broke a tie rod on lap four sending him over the banking. Daughenbaugh inherited the lead but on the restart he left the outside lane open and Adam Pletcher raced past for the lead. Pletcher’s lead didn’t last as he slowed the following lap once again putting Daughenbaugh back out front. Daughenbaugh led the final ten laps for his fourth win this season. Completing the top ten were Bill Eckenrode, Adam Ellis, Marc Whetstone, Jr., Timothy Whetstone, Martin Neeper, Noah Swank, Adam Pletcher, Tyler Laughard and Josh Whetstone. Shawn Hadden and Tyler Laughard were the heat winners.
Tim Laughard may have lead all 15-laps in the Schaeffer’s Oil RUSH Stock Car feature but he and John Eckenrod ran nose to tail the whole race. Laughard won for the fifth time this season. Eckenrode was second over visiting Mikael Beaver. Eckenrod won the heat.
