United Rentals presented The Hard Hats Of America Night at The Legendary House Of Power along with Dig Safely, Hauser Bro’s Plumbing & Mechanical, and VanEtten Contacting which included action among three of the regular divisions of racing action. The H.O Penn CAT Small Block Modifieds, The Arkel Motors Sportsman, and The NAPA North East Parts Street Stocks filled the pit area with nearly 100 entries ready and eager to qualify.

The 30 lap H.O Penn CAT Small Block Modifieds kicked off with Ryan MaCartney and “The Otisville Outlaw” Corey Cormier on the front row. Cormier obtained the lead at the start, but teenage sensation MaCartney took it back from him. Early race heartbreak struck for MaCartney as suspension issues ended his night on lap two leaving Cormier out front as the leader. As Cormier acquired the lead, the Interstate Batteries #83 of Chris Stevens took over second. Cormier seemed to set the Comfort Express #26 on Cruise Control as it almost seemed like he never lifted and began stretching his lead. Stevens followed suit, putting car lengths between himself and third place. On lap eleven, points leader “The Ant Man” Anthony Perrego would have some issues array on the Superior Remodeling #44 bringing out a yellow.

Perrego would join back at the tailside, but it was Cormier and Stevens leading the pack. Cormier quickly maintained his lead with Stevens in tow, but it was “The Highside Hustler” Tyler Boniface getting by Allison Ricci for third. Cormier began to extend his lead over the rest of the field leaving Stevens and Boniface to do battle for second. Boniface took to the highside and got around Stevens for second before setting his sights on Cormier. By lap twenty-three, Cormier was into lapped traffic. Boniface and Stevens were spread out evenly behind Cormier, and Allison Ricci had to battle with Dillon Steuer for fourth. On lap twenty-five a caution would come out for “The Viking” Erik Holmgren in the #TREE car. Cormier, who had a strong lead, would see it diminished and would have Tyler Boniface restarting side by side. On the restart, a red flag would be needed as a pile up developed after “DC Express” Danny Creeden had mechanical issues. The incident would involve Kirk Horton, Jimmy Spellmon, Tyler Treacey, and Rich Ricci III. For the remaining five laps, Cormier would keep his lead at the start, but Boniface was on the charge. Allison Ricci took advantage of the restart, advancing into third with Dillon Steuer fourth. Boniface was all over Cormier, and on lap twenty-seven, Boniface would utilize the top side, taking the lead over and collect another win for the 2021 season.
The 20 lap Arkel Motors Sportsman feature included some of the night’s best open wheel action. 44 competitors vied for the 26 starting spots in the feature. Ryan Walther, Jeff Hulseapple, Troy Arnold, and Bobby Flood collected the heat wins, while Dylan Smith and a returning Travis Green were victorious in the last chance qualifiers. When the field made its way out on the track, it was Jeff Hulseapple and Troy Arnold on the front row. As the green flag waved, Troy Arnold garnered the lead. Hulseapple and Charlie Loiodice followed suit. Arnold began slowly putting a distance between himself and Hulseapple, but it was all action behind the two. Ryan Neiger and Lem Atkins duked it out for spots in the top five running order, but it all came to a halt when second place driver, Jeff Hulseapple had mechanical failures bringing out the caution.

The next restart required a red flag shortly after the green flag flew. In the apex of turns one and two, Ryan Neiger, Charles Loiodice, and Lem Atkins all were involved. The next restart would have leader Troy Arnold side by side with Bobby “Flash” Flood. As the field got under way, Flood took over the top spot from Arnold, and he didn’t come alone. Twelfth place starter Jared LaBagh tagged along and took over second. As flood was building up a lead, LaBagh wasn’t letting him out of his sight. Behind the duo, points leader Joey Bonetti was fighting hard with Gary Edwards Jr for the third position as Jamie Yannone and Ryan Walther were going at it for fifth. On lap sixteen a caution was needed for early race leader Troy Arnold. The next restart would require another red flag for an incident involving Ryan Walther, Jamie Yannone, and Justin Gozzi. When the field got going again Flood would lead over LaBagh. LaBagh would throw everything he had at Flood, but one small miscue allowed some of the hard charging competitors to get on by. Flood proved too strong for this one, adding his name yet again into the history books.

Possibly one of the most exciting races to watch during the night, low and behold, came from the lone full fender division, The NAPA North East Parts Street Stocks. Two New Jersey drivers made up the front row at the initial start. It was Vernon’s Ben Richard and Tabernacle’s Jack Beaumont. When the duo entered turn one, a new race leader emerged as Walt Henry went three wide and took the lead by the time they exited turn two. Beaumont, utilizing the Tyler Boniface lane, was able to pull side by side with Henry, until Jimmy Hajkowski made it a three car battle for the lead. As Hajkowski closed in, “The Junkyard Jet” Charlie Donald made the battle for the lead a four car match up. All this action was just before lap five, when a caution flew for the #414 of John Tucker who was around backwards in turn three.

On the restart, it was Henry and Hajkowski out front. Quickly after the green, you guessed it, another three wide battle. Points leader Mike Vigiletti made a three wide pass, but only managed to advance to second, but shortly found his way to the top spot. If the three wide racing wasn’t enough, “DC” Danny Carlough, who started last, inserted the #777 into fourth, making it five cars battling as close as can be. Carlough, who just returned to the division last weekend after a six year hiatus, found himself not stopping at being fifth, but going on by Donald, Henry, and Hajkowski and taking second right behind Vigiletti. Vigiletti caught up to lapped traffic later in the event, with Carlough in tow, but time ran out for “DC” as “The Haverstraw Hammer” Mike Vigiletti picked up the win. Vigiletti also collected the Wicked Truck Worx Back To Back Bonus, for winning two consecutive races.
