8.17.14 Bedford Speedway Results

It was winning at both ends of the spectrum Sunday at Bedford. Rick Singleton, the star of 2014, scored his seventh win of the season in Limited action, while Mike Wagner II took his first ever Bedford win in the 305 event. Jonathan Taylor continued his run with another Economod win, Dave Riley survived last lap drama to take the Pure Stock win and Cale Martin prevailed in 4 Cylinder action.
Darrell Dick led the Limited event from the pole, ahead of Curtis Heath. But Kyle Lee was advancing fast and he joined the pair by lap 5. Lee took second a lap later and moved into the lead on lap 7. Lee then pulled away from the field as Singleton was charging forward.
Singleton closed but only slightly on each passing lap, but he didnt appear to have enough time as the laps wore down. But everything changed when Robby Black and Ron Bottenfield tangled on lap 14 to bring out the yellow.
On the restart, Singleton pounced. Although the pair ran side by side for a lap, Singleton prevailed on lap 16 and ran off to the win. Lee was second ahead of Heath, Troy Swindell and George Dixon. Dixon and Black won the heats.
Nicole Walker led the 305 event from the pole and built a large lead as the event ran through all green. Wagner, after falling back early began to close the gap by about halfway but was closing slowly. He really made distance when the pair began to enter lapped traffic by lap 16. That was to be the difference in the race. Wagner made his move for the lead among the traffic and was just ahead when Don Sotosky bounced off the wall at the white flag.
On the restart, new leader Wagner held off Walker to score the popular win. Reed Thompson, Ryan Lynn and Scott Ellerman trailed. Ellerman and Bob Salathe won the heats.
The strongest Economodified field of the season assembled for their special 20 lapper. Jonathan Taylor ripped from the second row to lead the first lap and then held off Deanna Groves and Evan Taylor for the duration. Brandon Lasalle rallied late to take fourth. Alyssa Rowe completed the top five. Evan Taylor and Greg Fetters won the heats
Dave Riley led the Pure Stock field to the green and then held off the usual mob of cars for the duration. Ed Vogel and Travis Group both caught Riley early and the trio ran in flight formation for most of the event. As the field took the white flag, Vogel again pulled up outside of Riley and the pair remained that way as Group looked for a way by and Brad Feight ran right behind, looking for an opening.
Coming off turn 4 with the finish within sight, Riley and Vogel tangled, with Vogel bouncing off the wall. He careened into Riley who then shot across to Group, who was charging to the inside. Feight charged into the chaos going to the checkered flag, but the yellow flew instead.
That set up a one lap dash and Riley prevailed over Feight, Charlie Walter, Bob Jay and Kyle Beckett. Jay and Beckett won the heats.
Cale Martin, the big 2013 4 Cylinder winner, got into Victory Lane finally in 2014. He led from the start and had to hold off the big 2014 winner Ryan Peer for the duration. Wayne Brenize, Bailey Johnson and Garrett Watkins trailed. Martin and Peer won the heats.
