8.2.14 Williams Grove Speedway Results

Scott Geesey, from Wellsville, made a brilliant late charge to win the 20 lap Williams Grove Speedway Blazer’s Body Shop Super Sportsman feature. Geesey had to pass the smooth-driving rookie Tony Jackson to capture the victory.

Dave Berkheimer led the early laps of the Super Sportsman main with Tony Jackson, Rich Eichelberger, Bill Devine, and Duaine Smith in pursuit. Tony Jackson became the new leader during the seventh lap.

A shuffling of the top five allowed Eichelberger, Steve Fannasy and Berkheimer to challenge Jackson for the number one position. The race settled into a three-car fight between Jackson, Eichelberger and Fannasy.

Scott Geesey began the event in 11th place. He settled into a position just outside of the top five.

The first caution of the event came on lap 14. The restart had disastrous consequences when the cars of Dave Berkheimer, Russ Mitten and Duaine Smith flipped at the exit of turn two. A shaken Mitten and Smith refused medical treatment and walked slowly back to the pits. Berkheimer escaped injury.

Race officials disqualified second-place driver Rich Eichelberger for not coming to an immediate stop during the red flag.

Tony Jackson continued to lead with Steve Fannasy in second. Scott Geesey sprinted into third followed by Frankie Herr and Chad Criswell. Geesey passed Fannasy on lap 17 and one circuit later swept past leader Tony Jackson.

Scott Geesey won the race by 10 lengths over Tony Jackson. Steve Fannasy was third, Frankie Herr was fourth and Chad Criswell finished in fifth.

Eichelberger, Criswell and Smith won the heats for the 28 cars. Paul Miller, making his first start, was the consolation winner. Jay Fannasy received the Sprint Aces Hard Charger award.

Brad Shank, the second-place starter, led the 20 lap Credit Connection Auto Sales 358 Late Model main. Pat McNeal held second place with Matt Nailor in third. There was an intense fight for fourth between Sam Rial, Ron Kline and sixth-place starter Sam Gallagher.

The first of two cautions came during the eighth lap. Brad Shank continued to set the pace with Pat McNeil, Sam Rial, Sam Gallagher, and Alan Sagi giving chase. Gallagher discovered an outside lane and sprinted into second place.

Sam Gallagher used the outside groove to wrestle the lead from Brad Shank. One lap later point leader Alan Sagi passed Shank for second.

Following a lap-14 restart, Gallagher led with Sagi in second. Gallagher gained an advantage over the final laps. The Littlestown driver won his first of the season and the third of his career by 12 lengths ahead of Alan Sagi, Ron Kline, Cam Zeigler, and Dan Zechman.

Tyler Horst, Zeigler and Zechman were the heat winners for the 21 entrants. The Artwerks Hard Charger award went to Wes Alleman.

Chris Heller led the early laps of the 15 lap Aquafun Pools Street Stock feature. Greg Diehl, the fifth-place starter, used a second turn pass in the third lap to become the new leader.

Craig Morgan advanced into second by the fifth lap. The lead duo of Diehl and Morgan drove away from the field.

The only caution of the race came during the tenth lap. Diehl and Morgan continued the competition for the lead. Todd Bowersox, Chris Heller, Jeff Haag, and Kevin Sigler were fighting for third.

Greg Diehl opened a lead during the final three laps. The New Cumberland driver crossed the finish line nine lengths ahead of Craig Morgan, Todd Bowersox, Jeff Haag, and Kevin Sigler.

The preliminary heats for the 17 entries went to Haag and Morgan. Jeff Haag won the Artwerks Hard Charger award.
