8.22.15 Sprint Invaders Results

WEST BURLINGTON – The Shottenkirk.com Sprint Invaders made their second stop of their three night Sprint Invaders Nationals weekend at 34 Raceway Saturday, August 22 with John Schulz, West Burlington, getting the win.

Coming up this week, Saturday, August 29 track championships will be decided as drivers compete in their final point races of the season. With just $5 grandstand admission fans are encouraged to come catch the action and see who can be the 2015 track champions. The point races are close from a one point lead to a 23 point lead range in the six divisions. An on track autograph session will allow racers and fans to meet before the start of the feature race action.

August 22 recaps…..
Hometown drivers dominated the 25 lap feature finishing 1, 2 and 3 in the Sprint Invaders 360 sprints main event . John Schulz, West Burlington, and Jarrod Schneiderman, also of West Burlington, set the pace for the 25 lap main event with Schulz taking the early lead in the Jimmy Davies owned #99. Schulz shot out to the early lead and held that lead for 20 laps for the win after working through lap traffic for much of the 20 lapper. Josh Schneiderman, West Burlington, worked his way up from his thirteenth start spot to finish second and brother Jarred followed to finish third in the 20 car field..Chris Martin, Ankeny and Bobby Mincer, Burlington rounded out the top five.

Brandon Lennox. New London, Missouri, raced to his first IMCA Sport Mod feature win at 34 Raceway Saturday topping the nineteen car field. Lennox took the lead from Joe Laue on lap five of the twenty lap race taking the win by several car lengths. Scott Van Buskirk moved up from his eleventh row start to finish second and Dane Fenton, Jonny Williams and Creston Williams rounded out the top five.

Danville’s Ron Kibbe took the checkered flag in the 34 Raceway 4 cylinder feature, his second in three weeks. Kibbe took the lead from Colton Keck on lap four and would pull away for the win. Kimberly Abbott, who currently follows Jerrod Nichols in the point race by one point (421-422) followed to finish second one place ahead of point leader Nichols in the tightest point battle of the six classes. Bryerson Tharp and Larry Miller rounded out the top five.

Brandon Rothzen, Raritan, Illinois, picked up win number 3 in the IMCA Modified class holding off a challenge from Bill Roberts, Jr. Rothzen took the lead on lap four following a caution restart. Bill Roberts was reeling in the leader but Rothzen stayed strong in front and would take the win by three car lengths. Roberts took second and Tyler Glass, Jeff Waterman and Dean McGee would round out the top five. Waterman holds a 12 point lead over Glass going in to this week’s season championship night.

Tom Bowling, Jr., Danville, moved closer to a IMCA Stock Car track championship picking up is third feature win in the last four races. Bowling took the lead from Jim Redmann on lap nine of the twenty lap, 16 car field and went on to take the checkered flag holding off a late charge by Jason Cook who followed to finish second, Redmann, Nathan Wood and John Oliver, Jr. would round out the top five. Bowling holds a narrow 10 point lead over Shane Watts and twelve points over John Oliver with one point race remaining.

Point battles…..
The 2015 Point battles are tight with the closest being the 4 cylinders where Jerrod Nichols holds a one point lead over Kimberly Abbott 422-421 and right behind is Ron Kibbe with 415. The IMCA Sport Mods are also in a close battle with Joey Gower leading Sean Wyett by 2 points 397-395 in a battle for the title. In his final racing season, Justin Newberry hopes go to out with a 305 Sprint track championship leading John Schulz in the points race 376-367. Ten points separates the top two in the IMCA Stock Cars with Tom Bowling, Jr. having a late season surge picking up his third feature win in the last four races. Bowling leads Shane Watts 407 to 397 with John Oliver, Jr. right behind with 395 points. The IMRA Midgets sees Aaron Schuck holding a 23 point lead with 230 points over Brayden Gaylord with 287. Rainouts plagued the STARS Mod Lites this season with 3 of seven scheduled races being completed and the eighth race of their series this week. Brad Lucy holds a three point lead over Gary Snyder 106 to 103 and Devon Rouse follows with 102 points.
