8.24.19 Lincoln Speedway (PA) Results

Abbottstown, PA (August 24, 2019) – After setting quick time over the 30-car field and winning the dash, Skylar Gee started on the pole of Saturday night’s 30-lap feature. Matt Campbell, who missed last week after issues getting to the track, started second.

Officials got the field lined up after docking Brandon Rahmer a row for being late to staging are.

Gee got the advantage when the green flag dropped but Brock Zearfoss came to a stop in the bottom of turn 1 bringing out the caution.

The field lined side-by-side again for a complete restart after Zearfoss rejoined the.

Gee took the lead again on the start. The caution came out again before a lap was in the books. Danny Dietrich, Chase Dietz and Tim Glatfelter got tangled up in turn 4 with Glatfelter nearly ending up on his side.

All-Star regular, Gerard McIntyre, had a flat right front tire under caution. His team changed the flat and McIntyre was able to tag the rear.

Dietrich and Glatfelter walked back to the pits from the crash and were penalized by All-Star officials for a rule violation. Both cars were parked in the infield until the conclusion of the feature.

The field lined up once again for a complete restart and the saying “the third times a charm” rang true. The start was clean with Gee to the lead and both Dale Blaney and Jeff Halligan getting around Campbell.

As Gee was pulling away and Ryan Smith was starting to work on Campbell for fourth the caution flag flew yet again. Brian Montieth slowed as he had a flat right rear lap 2. Montieth utilized the two-minute work time and rejoined the field.

This time the field lined up for a single file restart with Gee leading Blaney, Halligan, Campbell and Smith to the cone.

Gee went high on the restart going into turn 1 with Blaney diving low.

Halligan made a move on Blaney for second and nearly bicycled after hitting the cushion but and saved it and continued on. In the meantime, both Smith and Campbell got by him shuffling him back to fifth.

The field saw the yellow again on lap 4 for McIntyre and Cory Haas who got together in turn 4.

With all of the laps run under caution early in the race the All-Stars 32-minute marker was hit, and the yellow went to an open red for teams to add fuel.

After the cars were fueled and lined up Gee led Blaney, Campbell, Smith and Halligan to the cone.

Smith worked on Campbell for third and tried a slide job in turns 3 and 4 but Campbell held the spot.

Adam Wilt went to the bottom in turn 3 to get by Cory Eliason for sixth. Eliason took the spot back on the next lap.

Gee had nearly a 2.5 second lead as he approached lap traffic on lap 10 when the caution out again in turn 2 for Montieth. Montieth was running 13th and spun out. He rejoined the field again.

Smith got under Campbell going down the back stretch for third taking the position. Campbell didn’t go away quietly and stuck around to try and get the spot back from Smith.

Wilt and Eliason continued to battle for position.

Gee had a 2.78 second lead on lap 15, halfway through the main event.

The caution came out yet again on lap16. Eliason got spun around while running 5th coming out of turn 2. He rejoined the field.

Smith was getting a great run out of turn 2 while trying to reel in Blaney for second.

Halligan raced his way back up to fifth after falling back to seventh earlier in the race.

Gee continued to pull away but tagged the wall coming out of turn 4 lap 21 losing a second of his advantage over Blaney. Despite the mishap Gee had created enough distance between Blaney to maintain his lead as he approached lapped traffic to cross the finish line first for his first career All-Star victory.

Smith completed the podium with a third-place finish. Wilt finished fourth and Halligan crossed the line fifth.

Dale Blaney, Jeff Halligan and Ryan Smith were the heat race winners. Brandon Rahmer won the B-main.

Jeremy Ott Ends Dominating Season with Victory

Jeremy Ott has been a dominating force at Lincoln Speedway in 2019 racing with the Central PA Legends. In the series’ last race of the year at the track, Ott continued to impress.

Jeremy Hahn stared on the pole of the 20-lap feature with Travis Perry lined up to his outside. Alex Schmeidel and Ott made up the second row.

The outside line was fast with Perry taking the lead at the start and Ott sliding into second.

Ott and Perry drag raced to the flag stand to complete lap 1 with Ott getting the edge. Perry stuck around and got the lead from Ott on lap 2.

Ott got his nose under Perry coming out of turn 2 on lap 3 but couldn’t make the pass.

While Perry and Ott battled for the lead, Mason Chaney was working his way through the field from his tenth starting spot. Chaney was up to fifth by lap 4.

The yellow flag few on lap 5 for Chris McKinney when he came to a stop in the top of turn 3.

Perry led Ott, Schmeidel, Hahn and Chaney on the restart.

Chaney got by Hahn for fourth.

Perry and Ott drove wheel to wheel lap coming to the flagstand on lap 8 with Perry holding on to the lead.

Bill Diehl and Chaney got together on the front stretch bringing out the caution. Hahn was also involved but was able to keep running so he kept his spot. The cars involved were running fourth, fifth and sixth at the time.

Perry held off Ott on the restart, but Ott stayed within striking distance. Ott got his nose under Perry on lap 12 but Perry once again beat him to the flagstand.

The caution flag came out on lap 13 for Brent Marquis, DJ Elzey and Chaney in turns 3 and 4.

Lap 16 saw a three-wide battle for the lead down the front stretch between Perry, Ott and Travis McClelland. Despite the heavy pressure, Perry held on to the top spot.

Ott got his nose under Perry coming out of turn 2 on the last lap and this time it stuck with Ott beating Perry to the checkered flag. McClelland finished third. Schmeidel crossed the line fourth and Hahn completed the top five.

Jeremy Ott, Bill Diehl, Travis Perry and Travis McClelland were the heat race winners. Brent Marquis won the consi.

Also, of note, was driver Harlon Leppo who raced his last race on Saturday night. Leppo is hanging up the suit at the end of the season after a successful career in the Central PA Legends division.
