8.24.19 Pennsylvania Sprint Series Results

Seventeen-year-old Landon Price claimed his first sprint car victory Saturday in the PA Sprint Series IMCA/RaceSaver feature at Port Royal Speedway.
Price, whose previous best finish was fifth at BAPS Motor Speedway (twice) and whose previous best at Port Royal was 13th, took the lead from early leader Doug Dodson and scored a dominating win in his Steak-Umm/Swavley’s Lawn & Turf/Givlar’s Trailer Sales #69P.
Dodson, who had taken the lead at the green flag from fellow front-row starter Kenny Heffner, was 1.5 seconds ahead of Price when the lap 7 caution was caused by Jimmy White, who tagged the outside wall and spun, but was able to keep running. On the restart, Dodson took the outside line through turns 1&2, and Price charged through the middle to take the lead.
Once the leaders entered traffic, Price’s lower line proved beneficial, as the second through fourth place runners were running high and struggling with a choppy cushion. At the checkered flag, Price led runner-up Dodson by 2.085 seconds.
Rookie Garrett Bard passed Nick Sweigart for third place on the final lap, and Devin Adams finished fifth.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Drew Ritchey, “Iceman” Ken Duke, Kassidy Kreitz, “Zach Daddy” Newlin and Heffner.
Coming to the checkered flag, eighth-running Cale Reigle blew an engine, and the fluid on the track collected Jonathan Jones (current PASS/IMCA points leader at Port Royal) and Dave Grube. Reigle dropped to a 12th-place finish; Jones ended up 21st, and Dave Grube finished 20th.
Heat races for the 38 cars on hand went to Drew Ritchey, Adams, Dodson and Erin Statler. Jack Waters took the B-Main.
Next Saturday, PASS will run a non-points race at BAPS Motor Speedway (no points due to the Eagle Nationals RaceSaver event in Nebraska).
