Port Royal Speedway- PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Aug. 28, 2020)- Tim McCreadie led all 30 laps during Round One of the Rumble by the River at Port Royal Speedway to pick up the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory worth $10,000 Thursday night. The win was McCreadie’s fifth series victory of the 2020 racing season and his second career victory at the Juniata County oval.
“This is as close to home as I get and you could tell these fans are excited,” said McCreadie. “I’m happy and I hope I didn’t make it too bad to watch. It was fun out there and this is pretty cool.”
Kyle Strickler matched his best-ever finish with the Lucas Oil Series in second, followed by series points leader Jimmy Owens and Kyle Fergusson. Sprint car phenom Kyle Larson finished fifth in his first career start behind the wheel of a super late model.
It was all McCreadie at the drop of the green flag as he sped off from the inside line over second-place starter Owens to lead lap 1. By lap nine the leader was in lap traffic, but his lead would be erased one lap later when Rick Eckert slowed on the track to bring out the caution.
With clean air in front of him, McCreadie once again blasted out to a hefty advantage. Owens tried to pull a slider in turn’s one and two, but McCreadie pulled away down the backstretch. The caution once again flew with 12 to go for debris, bunching the leaders back together.
This time for McCreadie there was no challenge upon a return to green flag action, but all eyes were behind him as the battle for second was heating up. Strickler used the outside of turn’s one and two to move into the runner-up spot on lap 19 and Larson followed by using the outside to go from fifth to third.
Larson and Owens put on a spirited battle over the next four laps, swapping the third position multiple times before Larson took the spot for good and started working on Strickler for second.
However, neither Strickler or Larson had anything for McCreadie as he was able to relax in lap traffic and took the checkered flag by a margin of 7.111 seconds over Stickler. Larson got into the outside guardrail challenging for second in the final turn and gave way to Owens and Ferguson to finish fifth.
“It’s hard to lead here and I just figured I would live on the cushion and if I got beat, that was the way it was going to be,” said McCreadie. “This car was just so good out front, and I figured it was going to be tough to beat us form the front row.”
For Strickler, it was a great effort with a new car that his team put together just in time to race at ‘The Speed Palace’.
“We were on a little tire strategy tonight and we’ve struggled the last couple of weeks,” he said. “This was a bare frame on Monday at Longhorn and we worked our tails of to get here and it paid off. We were a lot better tonight then we have been recently.”
Hudson O’Neal, Mason Ziegler, Brandon Sheppard, Shane Clanton and Josh Richards rounded out the top-ten.
McCreadie set wuick time earlier in the night with a time of 18.545 seconds with a track record of 55 cars in attendence. Heat races were won by McCreadie, Strickler, Clanton, Owens, Devin Moran and Larson

Andrew Yoder and Dillan Stake both picked up Selinsgrove Limited Late Model victories as part of a pair of twin20 features that served as rain postponed make-ups from earlier this year.
Yoder took the checkered flag in the first feature over Trent Brenneman, Stake, Matt Cochran and Shane Miller.
Jim McBee and Devin Frey led the field to the green flag, and it was McBee getting the jump and leading lap one. Meanwhile, fourth-place starter Brenneman was on the move and was in third by lap two. One lap later Yoder cracked the top-five form his seventh starting spot.
Brenneman took over the lead on lap four and Yoder slid into the runner-ip spot at the line. Two cars got together on the front stretch to then bring out the caution.
Yoder and Shawn Shoemaker battled for second on the restart, while Brenneman jumped out to a full straightaway lead. Yoder took the runner-up position fully on lap eight and started tracking down Brenneman, who was struggling with lap cars on lap 13.
Another caution bunched up the fgield again with seven laps to go and Yoder was able to pull alongside of Brennman entering the backstretch. He couldn’t complete the pass, but used the momentum to drive under Brenneman for the lead I turn’s three and fou to lead lap 14.
A final caution flew with one lap to go, but Yoder would pull away convincingly to take the win by .613 seconds over Brenneman, Stake, Matt Cohran and Shaun Miller. The win was worth $1000.
Yoder drew the number six for the invert of the second feature, putting Shoemaker and Miller on the front row. Shoemaker jumped out to the lead, while Yoder moved into fifth on the opening lap.
Stake, who started fourth, used the inside of the track to move into second on the backstretch, before taking the lead heading to the line at the completion lap two. One lap later the caution flew when Chad Myers spun in turn two.
Brenneman was on the move after the restart, taking fourth on lap 12 and third on lap 14. With the leader burried in lap traffic, Brenneman was moved into second on lap 15 and had vut the distance in half.
The final caution of the night flew on the white flag lap when McBee got turned around on the backstretch. Brenneman tried the outside of the track to get around Stake, however Stake took the checkered flag and the $1000 prize by a margin of .861 seconds.
Brenneman, Yoder, Shoemaker and Devin Hart rounded out the top five. Matt Cochran, Todd Snook, Shaun Miller, Andy Anderson and Jared Fulkroad completed the top-ten.
