8.31.18 Volusia Speedway Park Results

(8-31-18) Barberville, FL – This past Friday night the “World’s Fastest Half Mile” was back in action on a race weekday for the 5th Annual “Benny” Corbin Memorial featuring the Thunderstocks and a $5,000 to win purse awaiting the winner. The special two day program saw “Controlled” practice for the Thunderstocks in which the Fastest two drivers from Friday would recieve automatic starting spots in the 98 lap feature event on Friday. To make the racing action worth while for the fans, the Daytona Sportswear Modifieds were in action along with the Crystal Tractor & Equipment Sales Gladiators.

In “Controlled Practice” the Thunderstocks would find themselves in a battle for the top two spots as many of the heavy hitters including Scotty Kay Jr., Hayden McCormick, David Showers, Sr., and Kent Corbin among others posted fast lap times. The night also featured late model stand out Jason Fitzgerald making a guest appearance. The rare start would prove to be a good one for Fitzgerald as he would set fast time of the night at 21.426 seconds around the “World’s Fastest Half Mile”. Kay Jr. would post the second overall fast time at 21.553.
