Reynoldsville- The biggest paying Pro Stock race in Hummingbird Speedway history took center stage Saturday night with the running of Ina’s Memorial Shootout. The race is run every year to honor the Speedway’s co-founder, and Louie’s late wife, Ina Caltagarone. The evening started off with all the cars in the pit area coming out on track and running a couple of 4-wide pace laps in honor of Ina. This year’s Shootout was one of six Penn Ohio Pro Stock Xtreme races being held in 2021 paying a whopping $3,500/win. That easily made this year’s race the largest paying Pro Stock race in track history. Tim Bish led 23 of the 30 laps on his way to getting the biggest win of his career and the second of the season. The Andy Man’s Car Care Four-Cylinders had a special of their own as well with a 15-lap, $500/win race. Shawn Hadden got the lead with just four laps remaining and held on to take home the extra money and record his fifth win of the year. The Carns Equipment Super Late Models, Swanson Heavy Truck Repair Semi Late Models, and Sunny 106.5 FM Pure Stocks were all in action on the night also with Paul Kot, Doug Surra, and Josh Fields winning in their respective divisions.

The Carns Equipment Super Late Models kicked off the feature racing action with their 25-lap feature event. Johnny Lindenpitz and Dylan Fenton led the field of 14 to the opening green flag. Jeremy Ohl got a hole shot on the start and quickly made it three-wide for the lead. As lap one got completed, Ohl led the way over Lindenpitz and Paul Kot. On lap 4, Kot used the low line to his advantage to make the pass on Lindenpitz for the second position. Later that lap, a caution for a spin in turn 2 set up the first restart of the race. On the restart, Ohl jumped out to the lead over Kot and Lindenpitz as Lindenpitz was challenged for third by Doug Eck. On lap 5, Eck completed the pass on Lindenpitz to move into third behind the leaders. Ohl continued to lead the way over Kot and Eck as the race neared halfway. At the halfway mark on lap 13, Ohl led the way by about a car length over Kot and Eck. On lap 14, Kot began to battle Ohl for the lead on the lowside. On lap 18, Kot used some lap traffic to his advantage to get the lead from Ohl. Also on that lap, Kenny Schaffer made the pass on Eck to move into third. A caution for Ohl and a lapped car getting together on lap 19 brought about another restart. The caution forced Ohl to the pit area which moved Schaffer to second and Eck to third. Kot pulled out to the lead on the ensuing restart as Eck made the pass on Schaffer to move back to second. There would be one more caution with just two laps remaining but it would not phase Kot as he held on to capture his second checkered flag of the season. Eck, Schaffer, Jerry Redden, and Scott Alvetro rounded out the top 5. Kot and Ohl won the heat races.

Joshua Seippel and Brandon Connor led a full-field of Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series Pro Stocks trackside for their 30-lap, $3,500/win Pro Stock Xtreme Series feature race. Seippel got the lead on the start over Curtis Bish and Connor. Bish made the pass on Seippel for the lead on lap 2 as Andrew Gordon moved into third. Later that lap, a caution for a spin in turn 4 setup the first restart. On the restart, Bish jumped out to the lead as both Gordon and Connor made their way around Seippel to move into second and third respectively. The race stayed green for another couple of laps before a caution for Bish stopped on the backstretch brought about another restart. The issue with Bish’s car forced him to retire from the race which made Gordon the race leader followed by Connor and Tim Bish. After a number of caution flags with only a couple of laps getting completed, Tim Bish made the pass on Connor to move into second behind Gordon on lap 7. Later that lap, a caution involving Gordon and others brought about another restart. The caution moved Tim Bish to the lead with Connor second and Seippel third. Tim Bish pulled out to the lead on the restart as Zack Gustafson made his way around Seippel to move into the third spot. Then, on lap 9, Gustafson made the pass on Connor to move into second behind Bish. The race remained under green flag conditions until lap 11 or so when another caution flag came out. On the following restart, Bish pulled out to the lead over Gustafson and Connor. At the midway point on lap 15, Bish continued to lead the way with Gustafson second and Connor third. The race stayed green all the way to lap 25 when a caution for a wreck in turn 1 brought about what would ultimately be the final restart. On the final restart, Gustafson gave Bish a challenge for the lead on the highside. The challenge was short-lived as Bish cleared Gustafson on lap 26 and began to pull away in the final laps to win the biggest race of his career and the second of the season at Hummingbird. Gustafson, Connor, Jamie Colwell, and Bruce Hartzfeld rounded out the top 5. Curtis Bish Jr., Brandon Connor, Andrew Gordon, and Chris McGuire were fastest in their respective time trials groups. Gustafson, Connor, Tim Bish, and McGuire won the heat races.

The Swanson Heavy Truck Repair Semi Late Models were up next for their feature with Nick Loffredo and Eddie Connor on the front row for their 20-lap event. A number of caution flags to start the race kept the field close with Connor leading lap 1 over Loffredo and Doug Surra. After another caution flag, Surra was able to make the pass on both Loffredo and Connor to move into the top spot on lap 2. Later that lap, a caution for a spin in turns 1 and 2 setup another restart. After another quick caution flag, Surra was able to jump out to the lead over Connor and Loffredo. A couple of laps were completed as the race made it to lap 4 before another caution for a spin in turns 1 and 2 brought about another restart. Cautions plagued the first half of the race with Surra leading at the halfway mark on lap 10 with Connor and Loffredo continuing to follow behind. One final caution flag came out on lap 11 which brought about one final restart. On the final restart, Surra jumped out to the lead over Connor and Loffredo. Surra began to check out on the field as the laps clicked away. On lap 15, Bob McMillen made the pass on Loffredo to move into third behind the leaders. Surra would go unchallenged in the final five laps enroute to picking up his third win of the season at the Bird. Connor, McMillen, Cheyenne Reed Jr., and Nick Loffredo rounded out the top 5. Surra and Connor won the heat races.

Cody Baughman and Blake Joiner headed a full-field of Andy Man’s Car Care Four-Cylinders to flagman Bob Connor’s green flag for their 15-lap, $500/win special. Joiner got the lead on the start and led lap 1 followed by William Kephart and Isaac Irvin. On lap 2, Shawn Hadden made the pass on Irvin to move into the third spot behind Joiner and Kephart. The race stayed green until a caution for a slow car in turns 1 and 2 on lap 5 set up the first restart. On the restart, Joiner got the lead as Hadden challenged Kephart for second. On lap 6, Hadden made the pass on Kephart to move into second. Then, on lap 7, a caution involving Kephart and others brought about another restart just before halfway. The caution moved Eric Luzier into third for the restart. On the restart, Joiner jumped out to the lead over Hadden and Luzier. At the halfway point, Joiner continued to lead the way over Hadden and Luzier. The race remained under green flag conditions until lap 10 when another caution forced another restart. On the ensuing restart, Hadden began to challenge Joiner for the top spot. On lap 12, Hadden made the pass on Joiner to take the race lead with just a few laps remaining. One last caution flag came out later that lap for a mechanical issue on Joiner’s car. That forced Joiner to retire from the race which moved Luzier to second and Cody Baughman to third for the final restart. Hadden got a great final restart and never looked back in the final few laps on his way to collecting the $500 payday and notching his fifth win of the year at Hummingbird. Luzier, Baughman, Virgil Meyer, and Jake Adams rounded out the top 5. Joiner, Baughman, Adam Bales, and William Kephart won the heat races.

The Sunny 106.5 FM Pure Stocks capped off the night’s feature racing action with their 15-lap main. Jenna Pfaff and Jake Foradori led the field of 16 to the opening green flag. Pfaff got the lead on the start over Foradori and Andy Frey. A lap was completed before the first caution flag of the race came out, setting up the first restart. On the restart following another caution flag, Pfaff got out to the lead as Frey battled Foradori for second. On lap 2, Frey made the pass on Foradori to move into the second spot. On lap 3, Tim Steis made the pass on Foradori on the lowside to move into third. Later that lap, a caution for a spin on the backstretch brought about another restart. On the ensuing restart, Pfaff was challenged for the lead by both Frey and Steis. On lap 4, both Frey and Steis made the pass on Pfaff to move into first and second respectively. A caution for a wreck involving Pfaff later that lap forced her to retire from the race which moved Josh Fields to third for the restart. On the following restart, Frey was challenged for the lead by both Steis and Fields. On lap 5, Steis and Fields both made the pass on Frey to move into the top two spots respectively. After another caution flag later that lap, the race saw its first extended green flag run. At the midway mark on lap 8, Steis led the way as Frey made the pass on Fields to move back into the second position. Then, on lap 10, Fields was able to retake the second spot from Frey. A couple of more laps were completed before a caution for a spin in turn 4 on lap 12 brought about another restart. A handful of caution flags came out following that one with only one lap getting completed. On the final restart with two laps remaining, Fields began to put the pressure on Steis for the top spot. Fields was able to pull door-to-door with Steis as they came to get the white flag. Fields made the pass on the inside in turns 1 and 2 and held on to capture his second checkered flag of the season at the Bird. Steis, Frey, Dustin Challingsworth, and Dennis Harrison Jr. rounded out the top 5. Swauger and Steis won the heat races.
